Goddess Kaalratri

Fierce on the outside, Kaalratri bestows her true devotees protection from evil-powers and spirits. Devotees offer jaggery or sweets made with jaggery. The prasad is also given to Brahmins along with Dakshina.

Goddess Chandraghanta

Mata Chandraghanta is worshipped on the third day on Navratri, i.e., Tritiya Tithi of Ashwin Shukla Paksha. The half form of the Moon exists on the head of Mata. She rides on a lion and is believed to destroy all evil and wicked. The ferocious Goddess is pleased by offering milk, sweets or kheer.

Goddess Brahmacharini

The second form, Mata Brahmacharini, of Mata Durga is worshipped on the Dwitiya of Ashwin month. Goddess Brahmacharini is a lover of simple food and offerings. Devotees serve a bhog of sugar and fruits to Goddess Brahmacharini. This increases the longevity of the family members.

Goddess Shailputri

Mata Shailputri is a daughter of Himalaya and thus is called Shailputri. She is also worshipped as Parvati or Hemvati. The first day of Navratri is dedicated to worshipping Shailputri. Devotees offer pure desi ghee on the foot of Shailputri. An offering of pure ghee is said to bless the devotee with a life free of diseases and illness.
