Have you heard about smashing a fine bone china bowl to have an auspicious start to a wedding? How about an off-putting concoction of leftover food and drinks from the wedding to create “La Soupe” in France? There are a myriad of wedding traditions all around the world. A wedding is much more than a simple exchange of vows - it is a soulful exchange of a promise to share your life with your significant other. So when stitching two hearts together, culture ensures a holy matrimony with these heartfelt wedding traditions found around the world.
Here are some of the traditions that I personally feel are exciting & fun-filled:

Greece - A Close Shave: The groomsman turns to a world-class barber on the groom’s wedding day. The groomsman, also known as “koumbaros,” is supposed to shave his friend’s face on his big day.

Italy - Sing Your Hearts Out: Before the wedding, the groom may throw an impromptu concert outside his bride-to-be’s window. Traditionally, the song, “La serenata” starts with the vocals sung by the groom, subsequently being backed by the musicians. The scale of the party then increases, turning into a full-blown bash with a buffet as the night progresses.

South Korea - Jumping In Feet First: “Falaka” is a ceremony practiced here where the groom’s friends and family hold him down and beat the bottoms of his feet by sticks or dried fish accompanied by trivia questions.

No matter how odd these ceremonies seem, they are all meant in good faith with the belief that they help in finding an eternal soulmate.
