Our favourite thing to do in Kochi, walk through the spice markets and take in the sights, sounds and most importantly the SMELLS! Cooking has so much to do with not only taste but also our sense of smell. Recently I had a bad sinus infection with a blocked nose. I lost my sense of smell and taste. It was debilitating. I couldn't cook at all. I have now regained both senses and gosh we really do just take so much for granted. So now I'm in the planning phase for our Diwali Supper Club. Stay tuned!!

Pre order now for this Saturday at lunch.

We've got a crispy honey butter chicken wings. This is our version of a korean dish we once tasted many years ago.

The next dish has my heart. It's a flavour of home. It's savoury yet sweet. It's chilli and complex. We serve this with some fragrant jasmine rice and a green papaya salad that'll complement the flavours of the sambal.

Please place your orders via DM Or WhatsApp before midnight on Thursday. Our number is 7994617799

The pork varuval is our take on a malaysian favourite. We serve it with fluffy khameera naans and a tangy red cabbage slaw.

The ribs are sweet, spicy and falling off the bones.

You'll be licking your fingers clean after this meal

Both dishes serve 1-2 persons

Place your preorders before 5pm this Wednesday 31st August and have it for dinner on Friday 2nd September. Food should go out from Edapally at 7pm.

We're back in Cochin after a long hiatus!

Available this week are a few of our favourite eats from different parts of Asia.

The Vietnamese Beef Stew gets it origins from a French Stew but jazzed up with flavours from Vietnamese herbs and spices. Well balanced and full of umami. This heartwarming dish has melt in your mouth chinks of slow braised beef and a crusty bread to mop up all the leftover stew.

Numbing Sichuan Chicken is a fiery chicken dish from China. The Sichuan peppercorns will leave you tingling with joy!

Hello Fellow KLites!

I am a home based chef. I usually run The Kopaara Kitchen from Cochin, Kerala but am currently at home in Bangsar visiting my parents. Since I'm gonna be here for a while, I thought it's best to let you all have a taste of what I love the most.

This week we're doing a fully Kerala menu. Meen Pollichathu is a fillet of fish slathered with an aromatic masala, wrapped in a banana leaf and then grilled to perfection. We've decided to also do this with Mock Fish for the vegetarians and vegans of KL.

You've got the option to choose this on it's own or as a set meal with Basmati Rice, a Coconut & Raw Mango Curry and Salad. Each portion serves one person.

Do pre-order with us by Thursday 5th May. Your orders will go out by noon on Saturday 7th May.

Self pickup or delivery via 3rd party (charges excluded)

Full payment is required to confirm orders

To place your orders, please whatsapp me at +917994617799 or call me on +60126866240

We're home in KL and want to feed you guys! We hope to have a new menu every Saturday or Sunday and will take preorders thru the week. Preorders will close two days before the food goes out. This time we are doing one of our best sellers, Pulled Pork Varuval that is accompanied with Khameera Naan and Pickled Red Cabbage. The next dish is Kothu Porotta, a famous street food found in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Sri Lanka. It's might rare to find a vegetarian version of this but that's what we're offering. You can choose between Vegetarian and Vegan. We're based out of Bangsar so once you're food is ready at 6pm this Saturday, either you can come pick it up or send a grab rider/lalamove. Please whatsApp me at +917994617799 or call me at +60126866240 to place an order. Cheers!

PORK VARUVAL! A Chicken or Mutton Varuval is a staple dish for all Malaysian Chettinad meals. If there's no Varuval, the meal just isn't complete. The Kopaara Kitchen puts a twist on this classic dish and therefore we make it with our favourite meat, Pork. Pork is fatty, pork is sweet, pork is just melt in your mouth delicious! Available this Saturday, 27th November at noon. We'll be pairing it with Khameera Naans and a tangy red cabbage pickle. The pickle will cut through the richness of the pork and also balance out the flavours of the entire meal.

Malaysian Fried Chicken is unlike any other I've ever tasted. It's got the freshness of lemongrass and galangal and the warmth and depth of our everyday spices likes cumin, coriander and fennel. And to further entice your taste buds, we created a dipping sauce with chilli oil, some roasted nut butter and soya sauce.

A few years ago we held a Kerala Cooking Class in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We taught Idiyappam, Beetroot Thoran, Avial, Moru Curry, Chicken Stew and Meen Pollichattu. It was such a satisfying experience to share the knowledge that my husband's family had so generously shared with me. I do hope to do some classes here in Kochi when the Covid situation improves even more. Tell us what kind of food you'd be interested in learning.

Kitchen Experiments Post!

These Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs turned out to be just way oriental ribs should be, with a bite! We want to put them on our menu but we're afraid they won't be well received as they don't fall off the bone! We've used sea salt and boy do they highlight the sweet meatiness of the pork!

The experiments in the kitchen are getting bolder by the day. Today we decided we were going to make Tofu, from scratch. It started off real smooth but oddly we ended up with a very grainy tofu that just wouldn't set. So instead of chucking it out we turned it in to a tofu bhurji. It had this weird yet yummy nutty flavour. So the tofu experiment was a fail but we aren't giving up until we get nice silky smooth blocks of it. We'll keep you posted on how it goes.

So we got fully vaxxed today and had already planned not to take on any orders in case we got symptoms. Then it started to pour and I just needed to whip up something that was weather appropriate. So we've got our feet up now and were sipping on a piping hot chocolate and gobbling down 15 minute chocolate chip cookies! Happy Weekend folks and please please please go get vaccinated, for yourselves and everyone else too!

Growing up in Malaysia, we looked forward to festivals as it meant time with family but more importantly, for me atleast, it meant tables laid out with piles and piles of Indian sweets. The Gulab Jamun was always made by my grandmother and her flock of friends who looked for any excuse to land up at our home for a good old catch up. Everything else came from right behind our office, a small joint called Jai Hind. It was the only place back then that did mithai the way they do it here in India. From their vast array of offerings, my favourite was Kalakand. It was creamy, sweet and just the most delightful melt in your mouth treat. Given a choice I could probably polish off a box of it in one sitting. A few weeks ago I was craving Kalakand and decided I was ready to take on the challenge. After a few tries I'm pretty sure I've nailed the perfect recipe. I also know I could give Jai Hind a run for its money when it comes to Kalakand. So if you want to experience the melt in your mouth sensation of Kalakand, we can help you fulfill that.
