The Bhagirathi River originates from Gaumukh Glacier and flows about 193 kms before merging with Alaknanda to form River Ganga at Devprayag. Bhagirathi and other streams that form Ganga have been worshipped ever since the ancient ages. It is believed that, pleased by the intense penance of King Bhagirath, the goddess river Ganga made her way to the earthly realm from heaven and divided herself into 12 small streams, one of them being Bhagirathi.

Set to the soulful tune of this wonderful composition by Shantanu Moitra and sung by Kaushiki Chakraborty, this video has been shot along the various famous ghats of the River Ganges, from Varanasi to Kolkata. As we are nearing the end of this year’s Durga Puja, it’s always a sad feeling inside us which makes us think that all this celebration will be over very soon and the long wait for the next year’s puja will begin again.
