About the school
The Begining :
Barrackpore has a mixed population of Urdu, Hindi and Bengali speaking people. Before 1982, there were sufficient primary and high schools for Bengali and Hindi medium poplation of Barrackpore but for Urdu speaking community, there were only two primary schools. For secondary education, teen boys and girls of Barrackpore have to go to Titagarh or Kamarhati (the near
est towns). It was a tough job for teenagers, particularly for girl students. And cosequently most of the students have to drop out after class IV. One day, some education lovers of Urdu speaking community, under the flagship of Anjuman Tanwir-ul-Islam, decided to open up an Urdu Medium High school at 2, Bakar Mahal, Sadar Bazar, Barrackpore [a property of Anjuman Tanwir-ul-Islam]. The school was recognised by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in 1986 as an Urdu Medium, Co-education, Junior High School. Later in the year 2000, it was recognised as an High School. Now the school has been shifted at 85, Bakar Mahal, Sadar Bazar, Barrackpore [another property of Anjuman Tanwir-ul-Islam], which is a much bigger and better place for a high school. At about 3 minutes walking distance from the Barrackpore Bus Terminus it is very convenient for students of not only Barrackpore but also for students from Titagarh, Kamarhati, Serampur, Champdani, Ghusipara and Chaparia etc. It has 8 class rooms and one laboratory-cum computer room. There is a big play ground for games & sports, physical training and occasional gatherings. Improvements and expansions are still going on, in tune with the dynamic atmosphere on the campus. A new Laboratory block and a new building block is under construction.
