Update: Disparity Between Dollar And Naira Major Reason Players Haven't Been Paid 3 Years Allowances - NFF 🇳🇬🦅🙆🏿‍♂️😲

According to a publication by SCORENigeria, the team are owed bonuses and allowances from as many as 29 games dating back to 2021 and they include 2022 World Cup qualifiers as well as friendlies.

Recall, Commander-In-Chief of Armed Forces, President Tinubu approved 12,000,000,000 for payment of all outstanding bonuses....

And shortly after... boooooom Dollar happened 😰

“The sports ministry has asked the FGN to make up this huge disparity and that is why 17 Billion Naira has now been approved to clear these outstanding bonuses and allowances.

“Hopefully, these outstanding monies will be cleared very soon.”

It's well🤦🏿‍♂️

Wetin you dey do Yemi Alade no good - fans criticize Nigerian female Artistes for not linking up with Yemi Alade to produce music

The truth of the whole matter is that, it might be her decision not to work with any of them. Perhaps, you can't decide for artists, they have the right to work with anyone they like.

Looks like Yemi Alade stepped down for reasons known to her but nevertheless, she's doing fine on her own.

MY BELLE O, MY HEAD O!!!
Do you still remember this Yoruba Actor called JAGUA?

Chief James Afolabi Afolayan MON, MFR popularly known as Jagua was born 4th July 1946 in Iludun-Oro kwara state Nigeria.

He managed on his own to finish secondary education but his journey into entertainment started when he was just 8years old in his paternal hometown Iludun-Oro where he formed the Iludun-Oro Jolly Mambo. It was a singing group.

The young Afolabi then go about adding spice to social gatherings by singing.. Yes he was a singer and a great dancer too.

He did this for some years until he met the doyen of Nigeria theatre, the iconic Hubert Ogunde.

James Afolabi learnt that Chief Ogunde and his group will be performing in Esie so he made plans to be there, saved up some money from selling bush meat so he could make it to the show.

On getting there he was intrigued by Chief Ogunde's musical rendition and decided he was going to move to Lagos to have chief train him in music.

James Afolabi whose family was mainly into buying and selling expressed his desire to go fully into music to his family and they never objected despite the fact that such professions was seen as mainly for the "never do well" in those days.

Few days after a family member brought young Afolabi to Lagos and they headed to Chief Ogunde's office and joined a very long queue of people wanting to join the group.

Eventually it was Afolabi Afolayan's turn to audition and though baba Ogunde thought he was very young, he also saw that he was very determined. He then handed daddy to his first wife saying " Gba omo e ni" ( take him, he is your child)

Afolabi said he never knew baba Ogungbe was also into acting. He said he admired his stage presence.

Afolabi said for him as a young person it was divine whenever baba graced the stage.

Afolabi Afolayan considers Baba Ogunde as a father and his first wife who took him in a mother.

He was with Chief Ogunde and family for 2years (1960-1962).

Afolabi Afolayan also trained under Akinsola Ogungbe before he teamed up with his friend Ishola Ogunsola aka Isho Pepper to form the Afolayan Ogunsola Theatre group in 1964.

Afolabi was the main singer and instrumentalist in the group while Ishola composed more of the stage performances.

The performances was rendered in Yoruba language.
Besides other productions, I remember they did "Iyawo alalubosa"together...back then, it was quite popular.

Besides music, 'Folabi( like his friends and family calls him)was known to be the fun guy at every gathering.

He just loves making people laugh and as time goes on he realizes he seem to be more interested in the comedy aspect of acting and went for it.

He met very young Elyzar Taylor a Sierraleonian who was still a student at the time.

It was Elyzar who gave him the stage name Jagua and advised him to act in pidgin English as that will cut across every tribe and make them more widely accessible.

Jagua also called Elyzar Grace on stage. That was how Jagua play Group was born.

They had their first major television show in 1968 with RKTV Kaduna.

Jagua and Grace got married in 1970. Grace was juggling marriage and the group while still in school.

With God by their side and love from friends and fans who we see as family, the Jagua brand became widely accepted.

Jagua comedy was in all the NTA stations, was in almost every Nigerian home.

It is devoid of vulgar languages...you don't have to send your children to bed because you want to watch Jagua...it is actually a family programme and many children look up to it.

Jagua comedy entertained and educated most of us via TV screens and live stage performances.

They were also involved in charity causes.

They entertained the less privileged for free, raised money to champion charitable causes, entertained our troops abroad (ECOMOG).

In the very early years of Nollywood, Jagua and his group made some home videos which was released in VHS cassettes but most of his works are with the NTA.

Jagua was recognised by the Nigerian government for his works hence his national honours.

As a father, he was a great father and friend.

The laughter never stops on stage.
He was the best. He died Oct 5th 2000.

23years on, we still hear his signature tune "my belle ooo my head o"

"Asake is already way too big. He no longer replies to us his old friends anymore. I don't DM him anymore because I know he won't reply and I shouldn't feel entitled to him because he was my friend."___ Yemi Elesho, Asake's former roommate reveals in an interview‼️

"I can't just call Asake's name anyhow now because he's big. He doesn't even reply to his old friends anymore including me. If I text Asake, he won't reply but it doesn't bother me because he is now big and I'm not on his level. I don't DM him anymore because I know he won't reply and I shouldn't feel entitled to him because he was my friend. I understand that at Asake's level right now, he meets new people every day, who are more influential and bigger than him so he has to channel his attention towards them. I do understand that he's always busy and simply doesn't have enough time to check on his old friends anymore. Before achieving global success, Asake stayed with us for 4 years moving from one house to another because he had no house. He used to stay in our houses and even do chores just to learn from us. Asake has really súffered in life and now that he has seen success, I think we should allow him to enjoy his life. He may not reply to his old friends now because he's reached a higher status, and that's very normal. So if I want him to reply me, I just need to work hard and get to his level." Yemi Elesho

Why did Nigeria Football forget about Bryan Idowu?

The Former Super Eagles Left Back had 10 Appearances and 1 Goal for the Nigeria Super Eagles during his Short Stint.

He was also part of the Nigeria Super Eagles squad that went to the 2018 World Cup in Russia and scored his first goal for the Nigerian Super Eagles against Argentina after coming on as a sub for Ola aina.

Bryan Idowu last match for the Super Eagles was against Uganda in a 0-0 internation friendly draw.

The Main Question we all ponder upon, what happened to our left back sensation who hasn't featured for the Super Eagles since 2018?

American rapper Cardi B invites Portable to her private residence in the United States for a collabo talk!!!

Nigerian music legend, portable commonly refered to as "Zazu" who recently traveled to the UK, will be leaving to the US in a couple of days to meet with American rap Queen Cardi B..

He received a call from Cardi B “Hello portable hope you’re doing great. I’ve been a silent follower of yours since you dropped your first music and I must say you’ve really evolved to an even outstanding artiste since then. Just want to let you know that it’s about time for us to jump on a track.

I already got DJ Khaled and he made a good beat. Will send to your IG. Let’s do this one for Africa. If it doesn’t bother you, I will really appreciate if you come to my place in the US so we can talk further. Chao”

Portable was so speechless after the call coz the whole thing seemed like a dream to him but he eventually understood the reality and replied Cardi B on Instagram.

As I type, portable is currently packing his bags for the United States of America. Portable grace no be here

"After the AFCON finals, I was with Super Eagles Captain, Troost Ekong, & I told him, 'The reason why we didn't win this cup was because we were never meant to win it. You know why? There's a player in the Ivorian team named Sebastien Haller. He was suffering testicular cåncer. He played nothing in that match, but he was the one who scored the winning goal.'

Ekong said after the final, when he looked at Sebastien & his family, he knew that everything the Nigerian team had been doing was to glorify the name of God in the life of Sebastien.

So don't feel bad Nigerians. It's a very important lesson that, everything is not about you or me. That's why everywhere I go, I got my boys with me" - Odumodublvck tells the crowd at a concert last night.

Magical Midfield of Super Falcons 🇳🇬🦅💥🇳🇬

I predicted it will be most difficult to break into the midfield of our Super Falcons and that remains the only department without a new call up. If anything, how to combine the exceptionally talented midfielders remains a "wonderful" problem for Coach Randy Waldrum.

Defence and Forward has either newbies or recalled players but our superb midfield looks like one that will have the camel passing through the 🪡 needle's eye before anyone can break-into anytime soon. 😊

✳️Defensive Midfielders

📌Deborah Ajibola Abiodun (University of Pittsburgh, USA) Popularly referred to as Kante, Deborah is an immensely talented youngster who plays primarily as a Defensive Midfielder (DMF), with the versatility that also allows her to effectively play as a box-to-box midfielder as well.

Aside the rare ability to score with her legs and via headers, the Young Female African Player of The Year Nominee possesses an outstanding range of qualities such as positional alertness, football intelligence and great ball control. She is remarkably courageous on the ball, fearless with her ball carrying abilities and dominant when contesting for duels.

She is strong, tenacious, athletic, rugged and exhumes presence on the field. Her technical skills such as and ability to execute critical tackles, precise passing and tactical awareness makes her a force to reckon with at the midfield at her young age.

📌Halimatu Ibrahim Ayinde (FC Rosengard, Sweden)
You will remember her as the Midfield Maestro who caged Lauren James of England at the last World Cup. She provides leadership amongst these talented midfielders and easily a mentor for them all.

Exceptionally talented, tireless runs, vastly experienced with a good resume of providing cover for her midfield and defence. Ayinde is quite neat with her tackles which ensures she gets a dirty job done without putting the team in danger.

This super woman made of steel combines agility with physicality which is a good combo required for one to excel in her position. She also has a credible balance of grit and speed, contributing to her effectiveness on the pitch and making her a standout defensive midfielder anytime.

📌Christy Onyenaturuchi Ucheibe (SL Benfica, Portugal)

The Female Version of Legendary Mikel Obi has a terrific work ethic and arguably the trojan horse of the team.

Strong with possession, exceptional ability to sniff dangerous balls ahead of time, gifted with the foresight to disrupt attacks from opponent, solid with both ground and ariel duels,. This gallant midfielder is dazzling with her defensive duties and progressive with her pass accuracy.

She powers the midfield with the energy of two people and has a remarkable penchant for slotting into centre back as a worthy support system. Her enviable abilities to intercept, disarm and cover virtually every blade of the green grass sometimes make you wonder where she gets her strength from. Not to forget her match statistics are always exceptional.

Ucheibe, our midfield Generalissimo is undoubtedly one of Nigeria’s most crucial assets.

✳️Attacking Midfielders (Midfielders and Wingers)

📌Rasheedat Busayo Ajibade (Atletico Madrid FC, Spain).
Our favourite Mummy GO is an Attacking Midfielder who also doubles as a winger with distinctive abilities. Give it to her when it comes to pressing the opponent with penetrative runs and fantastic crosses capable of wearing defenders out.

Not to forget her long range shots, wild runs, and that rare ability to bring something out of nothing. She is very dependable and reliable when it comes to her craft. Rash as popularly called by her teammates is very disciplined and well composed both on and off the field.
Little wonder she has been found worthy to lead her teammates in recent times.

She is very versatile with the ability to play as a supporting striker, winger, central midfielder and even support her team mates in defensive duties if need be.

Rash is a thorn in the flesh of opponents and her menacing makes her a threat to those who find themselves on the other half of the field.

📌Jennifer Onyinyechi Echegini (Juventus Ladies, Italy)

Echegini is another skillful, free scoring Attacking Midfielder who can operate from about four positions. From being a false 9 to creative midfielder, winger and supporting striker, she is definitely a multipurpose player who has been tested in those roles and excelled.

Now you know why a smart club like Juventus did not waste time in snatching her right after college. Jennifer is your typical modern-day midfielder with extraordinary capabilities, superb work rate, power play, ability to shoot with both legs, athleticism , crossing accuracy, visionary passes.
She can easily spot spaces in the opposition’s side to render assist to her strikers, interestingly, she can also score if she finds herself better placed than those paired to work upfront with her.

You can count on her when it comes to counter-attacks as she is speedy and very dangerous going forward. Echegini is no doubt a double asset to any team.

✳️Creative Midfielder

📌Antionette Oyedupe Payne (Sevilla FC, Spain)
This Creative Midfielder is unarguably the Brain Box of the team .Toni understands and displays the phrase ‘less is more’ with her style of play.

She is very versatile, technical, doesn’t dance around the ball unnecessary and a superb ball carrier for the team. She doesn’t need more than a touch to be a threat to the defence of any opposition team.

At the moment, she is the most desirable utility player in the team. Her depth, fluidity and intelligence at ball control ensures she contributes immensely to our rich midfield and magically connects with the attackers.

Her runs and tricks easily put defenders at risk of committing dangerous fouls that gives us the advantage of set pieces. Talk about ball technique, through passes, visionary ball control, creativity, dribbling skills, great energy, initiating attacks, to cap it all she possesses that rare ability to throw those passes that can unlock the tightest of defences …..oh my!

Tony Payne is a bundle of talent and a vital playe of Super Falcons.

50 Cent: Eedris Abdulkareem took bullet for Nigerian artistes – Music executive, Obi Asika

Veteran talent manager and music executive Obi Asika has claimed that controversial singer Eedris Abdulkareem took a bullet for other Nigerian artists by challenging the poor treatment of local artists during American rapper, 50 Cent’s concert in Nigeria in 2004.

He spoke in a recent episode of Hip TV programme, Trending.

Asika said, “The basic situation was this, Nigerian brands did not respect Nigerian artists. They made Nigerian talents feel like they have to beg to get on stage. They diminished them. Now, they are complaining that Nigerian artists are costing too much. It is because the brands didn’t respect the first set.

“Eedris was one of the first set. He was one of the biggest artists in the country. He told the organisers of the show that he wanted the same rights as 50 Cent. They did a show in Lagos, they were supposed to go to Benin or Port Harcourt, so they got into the plane… 50 Cent wasn’t even there at that time. Eedris went to sit in the business class properly to discuss collaboration with 50 Cent but he was bounced out and an altercation ensued.

“What he did, he took a bullet for other artists coming behind him. Because they ended his career. After that whole thing happened, you didn’t see him [popping] again. They painted him like he is a trouble maker but he is not a trouble maker.”

🚨🛑 2024 Olympic qualifiers: South Africa goalkeeper Kaylin Swart believes that playing the first leg of their 2024 Olympics qualifiers against the Super Falcons in Nigeria would be an advantage for them

“It’s always best to play away first, so I think we have an advantage against Nigeria as well. The last couple of qualifiers against DR Congo and Tanzania it wasn’t easy, but we managed to get a couple of goals away, and we came back home with confidence. Playing away first alleviates pressure.”

“The ooze and chants from the away fans are not the best, but I think we can use that as a fuel to conquer. Yes, it’s going to be tough."

"Nigeria have a big following; they pack stadiums when they play at home, but we are up for the challenge and the hostility we’re going to face.”

“We’re pretty experienced enough to deal with that [hostile atmosphere]… we’ve played in Morocco against Morocco in front of almost 80,000 fans [in fact, the venue’s capacity is 53,000], who were against us, but we still prevailed.”
