Smadar Kruvi – Shalhav (Smadey), a third generation food entrepreneur, born 1970 and raised in Tel Aviv, Jaffa, has a long culinary history, from restaurant manager to food and recipe consultant. While studying for her degree, Smadey worked alongside her Father, Moshe Kruvi, in their many restaurants, the most popular of which was the "Me&Me" (Mi-va-Mi) chain of restaurants and "Delidag" the famou

s fish restaurant. Smadar spent more than 20 years around family restaurants both in Los Angeles and Tel Aviv and now resides in The Netherlands with her husband and 2 boys. Coming from three generations of food entrepreneurs, food and hospitality are part of Smadey's everyday life. Being constantly involved in the family business from early childhood taught her important and fundamental rules about the food industry and gave her a rich culinary pallet and insight. She inherited the epicure and uncompromising character of her father and learnt one most very special thing from him - his secret Hummus recipe. This recipe has conquered the taste buds of hundreds of thousands of people from the early 60's up until today! All Smadey products are prepared by hand to tantalize even the harshest of critics. Although quite common in Mediterranean countries, the Kruvi family secret recipe offers a tasteful and tantalizing twist to the simplistic basic Hummus recipe. The main ingredients comprise chickpeas and Sesame paste (Tahina) , extra virgin olive oil and spices. To preserve its neutrality, no garlic or strong odor ingredients are used. Hummusmadey is prepared with prime quality ingredients with no artificial additives or preservatives. It‘s pure "homemade and fresh" which means it should be consumed within 5-7 days.

Today’s lunch...Making A quick and healthy Shakshuka with
‘Smadey’’s Shakshuka base’

This will probably be one of the 6 products that will be in the assortment of my new business...

Ingredients:
Red peppers, tomatoes, garlic, spicy peppers, olive oil and selected spices.
The secret is to cook the sauce for a long time. This one was cooked for 3.5 hrs, the second secret is that it can stay fresh for a very long time, if you keep a layer of oil on top.

Heads up:

Smadey’s falafel is a renowned recipe that sold over millions of portions worldwide .
The mix consists of all top quality natural ingredients, combined to create a perfectly harmonious flavor.
All you have to do is heat up the oil to 180 degrees celcius, make small balls & fry for a few minutes until golden brown.

The ingredients of the Shakshuka base are pure & basic: tomatoes/paprika/garlic/olive oil and selected spices. Slowly cooked for 2 hours to enhance and deepen the flavors. All you need to do is add eggs, wait 5-10 minutes and you have the perfect shakshuka.

Nothing like fresh hummus! It does take some preparations: soaking the chickpeas overnight then a few hours of cooking them... cooling the cooked chickpeas again overnight... but then easy peasy processing it! Its so worth it!
