🌿 October is my biggest month of the year - every day of the week literally gets booked out (ESPECIALLY Fridays & Saturdays), I work crazy hours and I have to turn down new bookings.

👉 Casual Part-Time
👉 Days & Hours differ but generally Saturday work up to 3 Saturdays per month
👉 You must have a full NZ driver's license and your own car
👉 Heads up, it's Ashburton based, but you need to be available to work all over Canterbury

🔥Who I need: I'm a little worker bee and would love someone who slots in nicely alongside me. I need someone with heaps of initiative, is well presented, a fast worker, reliable, can work alone or part of a team. Also, if you can bring the banter - that is a plus!

✌Job description: It's a bit of everything. Deliveries, food prep, food order pick up's, as well as creating next level grazing tables & platters alongside me and my small team or without me.

🌿 Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads and the like today!!!

😉 I’m super lucky. My Dad is pure brilliance and is the 1 person I run everything by (me and him think exactly the same on literally everything). I’m married to a very hands on, fun, keen Dad and my father in-law is an absolute gem who I love to tell everyone is my best mate (he legit is 😂).

👏 I couldn’t do what I do without these 3 men.

🌿 Last week Jade and I created this 3 metre graze for some very deserving health professionals and while I’d usually say no seeing as I now have a brand new baby, I couldn’t help but say yes as on their initial email they said they ‘froth a platter’. 😂

🙌 Jade and I turned up to see a bucking bull at the end of the table we were to platter on, so of course we had to have a go as well! Unfortunately for me, Jade won! I was caught very off guard with how slippery the bull was, plus I technically had only given birth 3 weeks prior! 🫨😂😂😂

🌿 I’m so excited to say our little girl Darcy arrived just over a month ago very hastily!

🥰 Fortunately it’s been a very easy road so far, with the little lady being super relaxed and doesn’t mind being smothered in love from her big brother!

🙌 I am absolutely head over heels in love so I’ve decided to take September easy too with only taking a booking a week - so book asap if you’d like a spot!

🌿 I got asked the other day ‘do I map out where everything is going to go before the day?’

🍒 I thought it was a great question which I’ve never been asked before! The answer is no.

💥 I used to when I first started out and I do it for new staff as a guide to make it easier, but no I don’t anymore. I have a rough idea in my head about what products look good on what boards when they’re elevated but other than that I make it up as I go along.

🔥 I’m currently on maternity leave until the 1st of September as I’m due soonish to have another wee nipper! 👶🏼

🌿 I am still taking bookings for after the 1st, answering calls & emails and doing some naughty planning for my new product launching in October which I CANNOT WAIT FOR!! 🛒 🤪😜

🦩 P.s I caught up with these legends a couple of weeks ago! I feel so lucky having made awesome friendships with some of the BEST local talent in the food industry! It can be quite lonely being in business by yourself so I love that I have their support & also that I can bounce ideas off them!

🌿 Officially in my last week of creating platters & grazing tables before I go on maternity leave for a couple of months!

🍒 Plattering while pregnant has really surprised me, I’ve had a few staff in the past say how they were knackered when they got home and it is a lot more physical than they thought, but I think I got used to it so didn’t really notice. Boy have I noticed now!

🥐 This size grazing table used to take me 45 mins, now it’s taking an hour and a half and I have to sit down to do a lot of it plus have a nap for an hour or 2 in between platters! 😅

🌿🔥 I am so chuffed with the feedback I’ve received from catering Friday nights Mt Hutt College Ball!

🙌 Almost 8 metres that was absolutely jam packed full of sushi, sliders, bao buns, brownie, mousse, hotdogs, popcorn chicken, and a few other bits and bobs!

😜 One comment I got was ‘all my daughter talked about was the food and that’s it!’. 🙌🙌🙌

🌿 I am so grateful for these two legends as we fed over 400 people this WEEKEND!!

😘 On the right is Jade, my main girl. An absolute beauty, inside and very clearly out! She has outstanding initiative (something I find is super important for my team to have), she’s an excellent problem solver, and works so dang hard! Plus she doesn’t seem to mind my music spesh when it’s on repeat and the same song might play 20-30 times in 1 hour 🥴

🩷 On the left is my oldest friend Renee. We’ve been mates since we were 5 at Darfield Primary. She stuck up her hand to help and I jumped at the chance as I don’t see her often enough, but when I do I always remember exactly why we are mates. The girl brings so much banter, energy and a whole lot of sass/bossiness to the team! She always puts me in my place and I freaking love it! 🤪😂

🙌 And then there’s me in the middle, almost 8 months pregnant, feeling bloody chuffed with everything!!

🌿 I am officially ALMOST FULLY BOOKED until the end of August when I will be back from maternity leave (all going well!).

🔥 I’ve only got the 8th and the 15th of June available (plus during the week days in between times).

🌿 One of the questions I get asked often is ‘how easily can your platters be transported?’

😅 Super easy. They’re stuffed to the brim with deliciousness, wrapped tighter than a Chupa Chup in its packet and as long as you don’t speed around corners like my Grandma used to (I swear that woman thought she was an 18 year old boy racer), then you’ll be good as gold! 👏🫣

🍒 One of the things that surprises me each time is no customers ever choose what cheese they’d like on their platters - maybe I don’t make it obvious enough so here we are, with my platters you can choose what type of cheese you’d liken

🌸 I absolutely LOVED hosting my platter workshop for some awesome ladies on Mothers Day!

🙌 I’m not much of a gift giver - but if I do give gifts I like to give experiences or something that can be enjoyed together so it was cool to see so many Mums & Daughters spending quality time together on a special day!

🔥 Here’s a platter that the lovely’s at Tanglez Hair Studio made! They ended up using it for their workshop they did in the afternoon which was a cracking idea!!

🌿 What a night last night was!! 🫣🤣😅

👌 First, I caught our stove top on fire, not once or twice BUT 3 TIMES!! I probably shouldn’t admit to that seeing as I own a catering company 😅 BUT it was so funny! I was making homemade fish and chips and I asked my husband to make a salad while I focused frying. Turns out we didn’t have any salad stuff so I scrapped that and then after the 3rd time of having a fire I scrapped the chips, as well so we just had fish. 🫣🤣

🔥 Meanwhile my 3 year old was being very quiet which is very unusual. Turns out our wee chap was creating a reel of himself complete with Taylor Swift music and then posting it on my Instagram page! 🤣

🩷 I really struggled fitting what I usually do on this platter for a 40th birthday but how cute was their dog who once I pulled my camera out, jumped straight under the table to be in the photo! 😂

🌿 I’ve had a few upset customer messages recently as my calendar gets full before July!

👉 These have all been about the same thing, customer messages to order, customer then doesn’t reply for a few days when I ask for more details, someone else orders in the meantime, gives me all the details so I can send an invoice so original customer loses their place when they end up replying!

🫐 I want to give a wee friendly reminder, in my T&Cs it says no order is confirmed until deposit has been paid and in order for me to email an invoice I need these as the bare minimum :
👉 date & time of platter
👉 whether you’d like to collect or the delivery address
👉 size of platter
👉 who I make the invoice out to

🍒 I made this particular T&C because I was getting lots of messages a few years ago saying I want to book so I was holding spots and then I was ghosted meaning others were missing out! 😅😊

🌿 My friends have been hounding me for a few months to slow down, and finally my body has requested the same!

🫣 This pregnancy has been a fair bit harder than my first so while I love what I do, I need to slow it down for now.

So the new plan:
👉I’ll only be taking 2 bookings a week until the end of June unless you have booked before then I’ll bust my butt to make it happen.
👉 July & August I’ll be taking fully off while I have this little sausage and get used to be a Mum of 2!!
👉 I’ll be back on board fully come September after hiring hopefully another NEW platter stylist!

🌿 One of Saturdays platters for a gorgeous wedding at the Mt Pleasant Community Centre. This couple decided to have a 1 metre grazing table in the entrance by the bar, and another 1 metre in another room for guests to enjoy!

☺️ I find it interesting, 99% of my bookings come from the brides, but I never actually get to meet them as I’m in and out before they make their entrance so it’s usually the groom I meet!

🙌 This groom was a bit of a legend in my opinion. I turned up an hour and a half before the ceremony and him and his groomsmen had just started to put the room together. My initial thought was, how are they going to get this done so quickly but seriously, these guys busted it out to a very high standard so quickly, all while having a laugh together and giving me a bit of stick. 🤣

😁 I walked away from it feeling reinvigorated and energised even though I was a tad jet lagged from a delayed flight and time changes! ❤️

🌿 Help me out! What’s your fave cheese? 🧀

🥳 Mine is Maasdam. A not very common fave, I think it’s because not many have heard of it or even tried it. For those that haven’t, it’s fruity and semi soft and delish with sweet or savoury crackers, pretty much any dip, and meats that aren’t spicy (in my opinion).

🌿 Grazing Table dreams!! ☁️ ☁️ ☁️

🔥 I am officially over the 2000 Grazing Tables & Platters completed in our 4 years in business!! 👉 I remember our first grazing table which we did for my friend’s gender reveal. I thought it was outstanding at the time - but it’s now safe to say I was NOT a pro back then. 😅🤣 🫣 For the first year we were just doing just Grazing Tables, but quickly added in Platter Boxes which really saved our butts when covid came to town. After a few months I started making all our boards in my workshop and so added small platters to the mix as well. Now I sit at just over 150 platter boards which take up an awful amount of space in my office! 🧀 We’ve made plenty of mistakes over the years, the first one being our name; I’m quite a brash person and so when we made our page, I came up with the name within 2 seconds ‘Fern & Feta’. Thinking about it more it didn’t exactly tell anyone what we did. Adding ‘Platters’ on the end still drives me a little mad now though as I predominantly do grazing tables but Fern & Feta Grazing Tables is an awfully long name too! I did think about changing our whole name all together, and almost went through with it about a year ago, but then rebranding is so much effort and it will cost a bomb so it’ll probably always be Fern & Feta Platters! 🤣 🫐 As for what the future holds for ‘Fern & Feta Platters’, well I can’t say too much - I like keeping secrets. There is always something brewing in the pipeline though! 🤣

🌿 7 Platters done today which was a nice break from chasing after my little midget who has just learnt to crawl! 🤣 🍒 This little beauty is the 1 metre kids platter which is perfect for up to 30 kids (plus some Dads who love to sneak treats). 🫐 P.S I know I always comment on the weather (don’t hate me I used to live in Southland), but seriously how good is this weather!
