Introducing… !

Albert Street are 4 mates from the Waikato who bring a mix of indie, rock and pop to the table, with an electric, energetic live show sure to get you dancing and singing along. The four lads met in their early high school days and since then have played shows all over the country, opening for the likes of Drax Project, as well as Aussie bands - Old Mervs and South Summit. You’re gonna wanna stay till the very end to experience the raw, dynamic performance of Albert Street.

Their songs have a lot to do with relationships, heartfelt and emotional and all that. However, they have a nice mix throughout the set, so you’ll be able to get up and dance the night away too! 💃

Introducing… .jai !

Where’s Jai is an indie pop rock band from Auckland NZ, fronted by two powerhouse female singers. ‘Where’s Jai’ is most known for their hit single ‘Perfect Crime’ which has gathered over 1 million streams as well as their name, which came about following their rhythm guitarist, Jai who always seems to go missing. Over time, they have opened for major artists such as ‘Teenage Dads’, ‘Muroki’ and ‘Reece Mastin’ as well as releasing an EP earlier this year called ‘Avenues’ striking great success with its 200,000 streams. The band brings a fun electric energy to their live performance and is one to look out for in the New Zealand music scene.

Kipper Reid is a 4 piece indie rock, with some acoustic folk throughout the set, heavy rock, and a touch of surf influence sprinkled in there.

Small Waves Vol. 5 is here! Even though Underground venue has closed down this will not stop us. We are back and bigger than ever at on September 7th!🌊

We will have four epic bands playing at Vol.5: .jai

The party does not stop there as we have b2b with a super mysterious dj that will be revealed on the night!

DAS ENDGÜLTIGE - THE LAST GIG EVER AT UNDERGROUND (with bands) !!

To signify the closing of Underground Venue, we’ve put together a free wee gig on down at Underground tomorrow the 25th!

There is a theme because why not!? - Cowboys & Aliens 🤠👽

Two bands will play - .bliss.band &

Doors around 8:45ish - no real set times decided yet but bands will play but will be between 8:45pm - 11:30pm. We’ll all be upstairs in the arcade hanging out before. There will be about a 30-45min intermission between bands!

Remember no booze or naughties, just good times to celebrate the last gig ever at Underground. All ages welcome! Security will be on the door & entry will be denied if anyone tries to bring anything they shouldn’t in! 🙏

Big Sur are a five piece alternative folk group from Tāmaki Makaurau, who have recently released their 95BFM chart topping single ‘Lands’. Described by Chris Cudby of Under the radar as a band that: “(injects) a dash of Morricone-esque drama into their panoramic palette of guitar / banjo / double bass / drums and group vocals”, Big Sur are due to release their debut EP later this year. Big Sur will be finishing things up at 10:30pm so you don’t want to miss them!

The RVMES (pronounced ‘The Rooms’) are a fiercely independent alt-rock band from Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, fusing styles of funk, rock and indie. The band holds a high reputation with their fierce live set and a strong agenda to carve a much needed new sound into the New Zealand music scene, online and on stage. As always, The RVMES continue to prove their reputation as one of the stronger live acts around Aotearoa. Coming all the way from Whangarei Small Waves brings you Blind Eyes! They bring a mixture of sounds that comes from the many different origins of its integrants with a influence of Scar, Funk, Latin Rock, Reggae, Blues, and RCHP (which the bassist loves!), they can play in their own unique way, bringing groove and energy where they go. Blind eyes will be playing from 10:30pm - 11:15pm so if you’re curious about that Whangarei sound come and watch them!

UNDERGROUND HIRE FEE UPDATE!

After weeks of crunching the numbers and a genuine desire to make our space accessible for young and upcoming artists we are happy to announce that we have settled on Underground’s final hire fee.

This new hire fee will allow for us to be able to keep running things at Underground as well as providing a space for young and upcoming artists to showcase their music!

From now on we will also be hosting our own events down in Underground as our way of showcasing young and local artists so your support would mean everything to us. If you or your band would be keen to play in one of our events send us a DM or an email!

INTRODUCING…. .original

Blossom is Tāmaki Makaurau based band that was formed in 2017 by three music class mate Allan, Willem, and Jospeh. They have been playing since then and making new original music from all the while still playing the odd cover from time to time for fun. Their sound is grunge/alt metal with their older music being more pop punk inspire. They will be playing from 9:30pm - 10:15pm so don’t miss the opportunity to see Blossom live in action!

SMALL WAVES IS BACK!

We are excited to announce that we are bringing back Small Waves at !

Small Waves mini-fest will consist of up and coming local New Zealand talent held monthly at Underground Venue with a Small Waves festival to be held at some point of the year.

Last year we planned a Small Waves festival at Leigh Sawmill cafe however due to the rain and floods we unfortunately had to cancel the festival but we are so excited to be bringing it back!

We have four bands who will be playing on February 10th for the first ever Small Waves mini-fest so save the date as it will be an amazing evening filled with so much good music and talent from all over. Full lineup will be released Wednesday at 11am along with tickets being available soon after so keep an eye out for that!
