DRIED FLOWER WEDDING BOUQUETS
Dried flower bouquets offer a nostalgic touch to a bridal theme and are also on trend for this coming wedding season. With their muted tones and delicate textures, dried flowers create an ethereal and romantic look.
These beautiful bouquets were ordered for a wedding at the end of this year. They are made up of strawflowers, ladies mantle, gypsophila, statice, honesty, sweet William and pastel coloured yarrows for a dried bouquet with a boho-chic twist. All ingredients were grown organically on our one acre section.
The perfect thing about dried bouquets is that they can be purchased and collected in advance to take some of the stress out of the wedding planning, freeing you up for other activities.

Found this pic of my first dahlia seedlings I grew in 2019. I only ended up saving one by chance and it’s a definite favourite now. It is often requested by florists and it’s my favourite colour ’yellow’.

Cascading bouquets are on trend for this summer. I made this one a couple of summers ago and was so happy with the ethereal look of it. It was only slightly cascading with a couple of dreamy vines so still had a light feel to it
I’ve had a few enquires about these bouquets for next summer and hope to create some interesting designs.
In this one I carefully matched the focal flowers with delicate cosmos flowers in the same shades. I love how cosmos stand tall in a bouquet giving that extra depth

Back from my trip to Vietnam and I’m feeling refreshed and revived. It was such a wonderful trip and amazing place to explore and experience and flowers were very big there too!
I was very inspired by Vietnamese floriculture and I look forward to using this inspiration in my designs next season 🇻🇳🧡

One of my last dahlia bouquets that was made a few weeks ago before these hard frosts hit. I love how the colours become more intense and almost fluro as the temps started to drop. I enjoyed using these fluro orange ribbons at the start of May.

I am lucky to have the help of my sister this week. It’s made such a difference having an extra pair of hands and she even took some lovely photos of me harvesting

Something to brighten up your day. It’s very wet here in Southland. The days are numbered with our dahlias.
The good thing about growing is that there is always something to look forward to with the changing seasons. Having a garden helps you to appreciate seasonal changes and it is a great feeling having the next season to look forward to. At the moment I’m enjoying these dahlias while I still have them.

Just a wee view of my flower field before I start the big harvest of strawflowers and amaranth. It’s going to be tedious with hundreds of flowers to cut and prepare! At least I have a dry day to start to make a dent in the work. As I have a small scale boutique flower farm it’s just me who does all work but I’m glad I’m doing something I love and am thankful I can do it 🧡

MARIGOLDS… these are an amazing plant that are not only pretty as a cut flower but also have many medicinal uses. They are native to Mexico but also found in the countries of Central America and the Caribbean. In Mexico the marigold flower is called flor de mu***os, which translates as “the flower of the dead” and is used in The Day of the Dead Celebration every 2nd November.
The pigments of the marigold are due to carotenoids of which one of the main ones is lutein, which is associated with the prevention of age related eye diseases such as macular degeneration and cataracts.
The even darker orange tones are associated with an even higher amount of carotenoids especially xanthophyll which has been found in some studies to aid in the prevention of coronary artery disease, heart attacks and cancer.
Marigolds are also used as a food dye and the dried petals are ground down and added to poultry feed to enhance the egg yolk colour.
Just some interesting facts I hope you enjoy ☺️

Had fun dreaming up this colour palette today. It’s 70s inspired as I’ve always been a big fan of this era and love clothes, homeware and of course 70s themed flowers! Think it’s because I was just born at the very end of this decade in 79 and have been influenced by the style growing up. I remember the brown and orange flowered wall paper in our lounge and the mustard chairs we had when I was young, Mum and Dad’s long collars ( which they still wore around the farm in the early 80’s) and of course the groovy music that I still love now 🧡
Tag someone in who loves the 70s too!

I just did a live video on the physical benefits of gardening but I didn’t really elaborate into much detail other than it helps to build physical strength and increases muscle similar to going to the gym. I kind of got stage fright doing the live video so I thought I’d continue with this post.
Today I gardened for 8 hours and I’ve come inside and I can feel the workout I’ve given my body. I was constantly squatting as I was in lots of different areas weeding. Each time I moved I squatted again. I must have done hundreds of squats today without even noticing it. My quads and glutes are feeling like they’ve had a good work out and my abs have too by pulling weeds and twisting to throw them in piles on the lawn.
My biceps had a workout by forking and digging the soil and also by lifting heavy barrow loads of weeds. My garden is effectively my home gym and it works out every major muscle group in my body.
Also after a busy day gardening it really helps me have a deep sleep 💤

SPECIAL TODAY!!! Decided to make these up as I had spare time this morning. $30 mixed bunches and one $15 bunch. Contact me for bank details otherwise there is an honesty box in the shed 😍🙌

When I picked the flowers for this lovely bouquet yesterday it was the autumn colours that were looking best. Some beautiful new red dahlias have just started to flower this week including the pretty one with yellow tones in the middle. Also the gorgeous ‘Fire Mountain’ scarlet red dahlia gifted to me by is a standout in this gift bouquet. Thank you Alan.

A beautiful dahlia bouquet with just dahlias that went out to a dahlia lover earlier this week. I love the statement dahlias make alone in a bouquet. This one required two strong arms of my little assistant. She always complains that they are so heavy. She’s a great little helper and I’m grateful for her help as it’s usually a one handed pic by me.
