Message from Sefton Hall Chairman Paul Lochhead

We welcome Mike Northmore and Jo Simpson to the committee. Jo has taken on social media and Mike is contributing his expertise.

The Woodend Sefton Community Board continues to support us and Ian Fong is their representative at our meetings.

This has been a long journey but we are pleased to be able to finally report to the community. We have endeavoured to make decisions to have the best facility for the Sefton community and appreciate your feedback.

We would greatly appreciate the communities support now and in the future - anyone with skills or equipment to support the new build please let us know.

Our next committee meeting is Wednesday 17 April 7.30pm at Sefton Hall. Come along, all are welcome.

Thank you very much.

The Sefton Hall Committee are excited to share the designs for a new Sefton Hall project that are well underway.

Finalised drawings are expected mid-this year 2024 (approximately) which will then be submitted to Waimakariri District Council for permits. The work continues as a team of many work to get designs finalised, including geo-technical engineers, structural engineers, land survey, fire engineers, electrical/civil/mechanic/hydraulic engineers etc.

A lease has been signed with the council for the new location of the hall in the Sefton Domain where the The Domain Pavilion currently stands. The current Sefton Hall building and land will be sold in the future. An ideal solution would be a seamless transition from the existing Hall location into the lovely new building once it is complete, although it's too early to know the feasibility of this. It is also too early to know the project completion time given so many unknown variables. But nonetheless, we wanted to take this opportunity to share the designs with the community.

Fund development will commence soon to raise the money for the construction to proceed.

The Sefton Hall Committee is made up of volunteers, some of which have served in this role for almost 40 years. They see the hall as an important place that brings the community together whether it be for activities like Karate, Gymnastics, Indoor Bowls, youth group or regular Sefton School events.

The committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month 7.30pm at the hall. All are welcome to come along and join the meetings.
