OtaScope: New Anime for October 2022! Urusei Yatsura (2022) うる星やつら Genre: Rom-Com, Sci-fi Airing Date: October 13, 2022~ Synopsis: An alien race known as the Oni arrives on Earth to invade the planet. But seeing that the human race had no capability of defending themselves, the alien leader called. Mr. Invader gives human beings a chance by deciding Earth's fate though a game of 'tag'. Representing the Oni was the beautiful Princess Lum, the daughter of the leader of the Oni race. While a boy named Ataru Moroboshi, for the humans, chosen randomly by the Oni's computer. Despite having a girlfriend, Ataru is a lecherous womanizer, an academically unsuccessful high school student, and a really unlucky boy. For the competition, Ataru must chase and touch the horns on Lum's head, within 10 days, to save the Earth from invasion. Ataru is optimistic he can easily chase and tag Lum, she being a very beautiful girl and all. As the game starts, Lum jumps and flies whenever Ataru comes near her. It soon became evident that Ataru will never catch Lum. On the final day, everyone becomes desperate and the human race loses hope. Ataru's girlfriend, Shinobu, encourages him by pledging to marry him if he ever gets to catch Lum. Ataru makes a plan: he uses a gun that fires a suction cup on a string. He takes Lum's bikini top off with it and as she tries to get it back from Ataru, he touches Lum's horns. In victory, he than shouts 'I will able to finally marry!', Lum misunderstands this as a proposal and accepts it on live TV. Thus peace of Earth has been preserved. But not for Ataru! Lum is now in-love with Ataru and is quite a jealous girl: she electrocutes Ataru whenever he tries to get back to his girlfriend who has totally lost interest in him, or whenever he flirts with other girls.
