"Identity, History, and Arts: Reclaiming Our Identity Beyond the Last 70 Years in Pakistan"

We embark on a journey to rediscover the essence of our cultural narrative. This panel talk serves as a platform to delve deeper into our roots, transcending the boundaries of the decades beyond 70 years. Together, let's explore the rich tapestry of our identity, embracing history as a guide, and harnessing the arts as a powerful medium to reclaim and redefine the richness of our Pakistani heritage.

About the speakers:

•Qamar Zaman Kaira: is a former Minister of Information and Mass-Media Broadcasting in the Government of Pakistan from 2008 to 2013. He also remained advisor on Kashmir Affairs to former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif from 18 April 2022 to 10 August 2023.

•Khizar Jawad: a history teacher at Forman Christian College and University

•Sheikh Abdul Rasheed: Director Press Media & Publication at University of Gujrat. He also wrote book “گجرات میں عربی ادب کی روایت”

•Daniyal Abdullah: a young leader for student rights

•Abuzar Madhu: a student at NCA, Lahore and an activist working to preserve the essence of true Punjabi culture, he also initiated the “راوی بچاؤ تحریک”

Moderator:

•Hashim Z. Wadhan: Hashim has built a multifaceted career that defies conventional categorization. He is both an Academic Researcher and a Lawyer by profession, with a passion for history and a deep-seated understanding of complex geopolitical dynamics. He served as a researcher for prestigious think tanks such as the South Asian Strategic Stability Institute (SASSI) and the International Institute for Global Strategic Analysis (IIGSA).

کوک سٹوڈیو کے توسط سے منظرِ عام پر آنے والی ان کی لازوال قوالیاں "کنگنا، "آج رنگ ہے"، "پیا گھر آیا" اور"شکوہ، جوابِ شکوہ" کسی تعارف کی محتاج نہیں۔ اس کے علاؤہ انھوں نے فلم "ماہِ میر" میں "جاگ مسافر جاگ" اور فلم "ہو من جہاں" میں "گھر ناری" جیسی کلاسیکل قوالیوں کو کمالِ فن سے بخوبی نبھایا اور اپنی آواز کی مدھرتا اور سر تال کی تال میل سے امر کر دیا۔

🌟 Habib Shahzad, an independent filmmaker, began his cinematic journey during his studies in England, sparked by a minor role in a British urban drama. Intrigued by the filmmaking process, he transitioned into various roles behind the camera, honing his skills and venturing into directing. In 2021 he founded BHM Films, driven by a mission to support and engage fresh graduates in the filmmaking industry.
