Hello!

We're seeking a dedicated plant enthusiast to join us at the end of November. Your mission: to help us cultivate a Syntropic Agroforestry-inspired system, and care for an existing one already influenced by syntropic principles. You'll explore the fascinating world of tree consortia and the different space and time cycles of plants.

We're on the look out for self motivated nature lovers to join a young project with big ambitions, and learn from agroforestry experts on a beautiful land in South Alentejo, Portugal. Includes accommodation in a lovely house on the land.

We are so excited to be opening a new course, in a brand new format.

2 weeks intensive learning by doing, digging deep into reforestation, syntropic agriculture and other principles of nature regeneration for someone to learn side by side with Lars Wild and team.

You will be living with our collective in our farmhouse, on the beautiful piece of land we call home, right in the middle of the Alentejo. As with everything, our approach is decentralised and integrated, meaning we live on, with and for the land we care for.

The collective will be working together for those two intensive weeks to create an agroforestry system, using our tree nursery full of over 3000 trees and 70 different varieties.

Snippets of life at the Skanking Farmers.

Throwback to the food forest workshop organised last October. Our first event focused on regeneration, the weekend that kick started what is now the primary focus of the project.

This was the initial push for what is now a thriving tree nursery. After a year of care, the time has almost come to plant the trees that have been growing from seed in the Skanking Farmers’ nursery.

While keeping up the constant care and attention necessary to support our first food forest, we plan to create a second one, continuing to work in line with the principles of syntropic farming. The tree nursery will also continue to grow, ensuring a diverse supply of trees for our land but also for neighbouring projects.

Autumn is close!

The power of a collective bass meditation. Perhaps you connect with the idea and ideals of a collective of people coming together to unite behind a belief. Perhaps with the love of the bass, the power of the vibration, the excitement of creating and experiencing art. Perhaps with the conviction that spirituality & nature are one and the same, that nature is our God, and God our nature.

Perhaps with all three. Either way, we share the same values, and together again we will come to express them out in the world.

To all of those who stood either right in front of the sound system, or at the back of the dancefloor. To those who were jamming and dancing for three days, and those who were softly rocking, eyes closed, laying on the ground. Regardless of your unique way of connecting with the music, you all received, took in, and integrated the healing vibrations of the sound system.

Thank you to for trusting us one more time. For sharing such a powerful channel with our project and with all of you.

Thank you to every soul who dedicated this time to aligning their energy with ours, to getting to know this land that is our home, to surrendering their bodies to the rhythm of the bass.

The Skanking Farmers project was born last year, out of an urge to offer a space of freedom to our community. We had no idea this same community would come, grow, bring more beautiful beings and give birth to a family. A momentum was created. Our team kept on feeding it with love, life & energy throughout the autumn, winter and spring. We designed, planted, built, brainstormed, connected. We failed, we learnt, always we trusted.

Now the time has come. The Skanking Farmers Festival is back.

27th, 28th, 29th May 2022.
Odemira, Alentejo (Portugal).
Festival open to all association members.

We have put our heads together to create a holistic, conscious 3-day experience on the land.

Inspiration arose from the family that spontaneously came together last year, the projects and humans in our bio region, and the abundance that surrounds us. We felt pushed to create a space of hope and freedom. A world co-created by all of you, a micro-universe standing up, in response to the last tremors of a system that keeps failing us.

We dreamt of 3 days, 3 phases, 3 themes in 3 spaces. A trinity to liberate what was stuck, to build connections, to feel inspired, to dance until we can’t anymore.

From grounding, to transformation, to integration. We will together flow through a journey of change & celebration.

From our geometric zome -space of connection; to the workshop -space of creation; to the dance floor -space of depth and expansion. We will co-create a world from this island.

From permaculture, to mind-body connection, to creative expression. We will listen, learn, apply, be in our power.

The land will be yours to explore, from campsite to hill top, from river access to market.

Days will be dedicated to workshops, seminars, activities & performances.
The sound system will lead us through the night. Dancing barefoot through live music, dub, techno & trance, we will release and connect as a tribe.

The Skanking Farmers are back.

Save the date: our doors will open for the first time this season on 27th, 28th, 29th May 2022.

The project has evolved, the team has grown, our values remain: regenerating the land, reuniting as a tribe, promoting individual and collective learning & growth.

Three days of freedom, inspiration, learning, creation, expression, dance and music. Three days to, together, decide of the culture we choose to create, the world we choose to live in, the values we choose to uphold.

The land is and will always remain our first priority: in order to preserve it and limit the footprint of the festival, we have implemented a number of measures, including: developing a strong network of local food providers, growing our own vegetable garden, starting up a food forest, developing the land’s water systems, creating ‘regeneration areas’ on the land, always working with local actors, artists, teachers, and more.

We are offering 3-week long artist residencies for two people at the Skanking Farmers’ project.

We are opening a free space for artists to bring their creative expression to the vision of our project. If you feel connected to the idea of creating spaces of freedom where nature and its beings thrive, write to us with a short proposal of the art piece you are dreaming of.

We will offer our 10ha land as a white canvas for you to represent the spirit of our project and symbolise your own creative expression. Our core values are centred around regeneration, global consciousness and life celebration.

We are open to any form of art. The piece could be a painting, sculpture, graffiti, installation involving any type of material, mobile or immobile, interactive or not. We value low-budget creation, upcycling, ‘do it yourself’. Our focus is our next festival in May but we are also open to pieces that would stay & keep bringing inspiration to the land in the future.

What we offer:
- Space free for creation
- A fully equipped workshop, all the tools you need and the land as a canvas
- A space to live in the Skankingdom

- A beautiful family to connect with and support you in your project
