The article reveals the history of the formation of e-sports as a new type of sports discipline. The authors highlight the stages of eSports development, assess the current state of its legal regulation and outline the prospects for the development of this sport. The conclusion is made that cybersport is today an actively developing sports discipline that needs legal regulation both at the national and international levels, as well as the introduction of a special procedure for the implementation of international norms of this category into national legislation in order to unify the approach to formalizing legal relations in this area.
