The 2019 Alma College Percussion Workshop will be held from Sunday, July 7th through the 13th (Concert Week) and July 14th through the 20th (Marching Week) on campus at Alma College. This year's workshop will focus on marching and concert percussion technique and application. Marching Week: Students learn multiple cadences, learn all the drumline/sideline instruments, marching basics and visual style, developing basic and advanced hand technique, and get to experience putting together an original feature show written specifically for our workshop. Concert Week: Hands-on sessions cover all facets of contemporary percussion including timpani, orchestral percussion, jazz improvisation, keyboards, steel drums, Latin percussion, and drumset. Opportunities for hand-on participation are a vital part of the daily schedule. All participants perform in a percussion ensemble, steel drum band, and marimba group. The Alma College Percussion Workshop runs in conjunction with the Yamaha Sounds of Summer program as well as with the support of many top brands in the industry. As more specific information becomes available in the coming weeks, we will post any and all pertinent information here. If you have any other questions, concerns, or just want to hear more about the this year's workshop, do not hesitate to call or email us! Looking forward to seeing you there!
