Chicago Treats Then and Now
As the owner of a food truck I can say that we had little background in this field when we started. I worked with my uncle for a summer when I was in high school, but that was pretty much it. I, Cle, initially arrived in Ames to attend Iowa State to join the engineering program and loved the freedoms that came with college. The food was the highest point of everyday, some places good and some not so good, but I am a foodie, so I love to try and cook new things. After a while, the food became redundant just going to the same places and having the same selection of food every weekend. Fast forward a bit, I met my lovely wife who encouraged me to pursue adding a new flavor to Ames, one that was not just tacos, burgers, pizza, Chinese, or Thai. The mission was to deliver authentic taste of Chicago, that I grew up with, to Ames. With the help of my friends and the entire savings that my wife to be and I generated, we bought an empty trailer, then built and installed everything that you see when you come to the window ourselves. After an entire year of working tirelessly on weekends and whatever days off, we introduced Chicago treats to Ames, and we were able to create THE taste of Chicago you all will know and love!
