The State Theatre

The State Theatre From sitting presidents (John F. Kennedy) to local families, the State Theatre has provided memorable entertainment that everyone could enjoy for generations.

For the better part of the 20th century, the State Theatre of Anderson, Indiana, existed to entertain the masses through feature films and live acts, including Rodney Carrington, Eddie Money, and George Carlin. Originally opened in 1930, the State Theatre boasted the first commercial (geothermal) cooling system in the state, allowing patrons to watch some of the first "talkie" films in a "healthfu

lly cooled" atmosphere. Whereas the Paramount Theatre nearby was one of the last pre-depression era theatres to be built, the State became one of the very first depression era performance halls to be constructed, thus explaining its more subdued interior architecture. Acoustically tuned in its construction to transmit recorded and live audio experiences, the building serves as a simple, yet unique fixture in downtown Anderson. Much to the dismay of Anderson residents and those passionate about the local landmark, the State Theatre eventually closed and fell into obscurity. The theatre has sat along Meridian Street, waiting to experience new life...

And a new life it will have. We represent MadCo Entertainment, LLC., an entertainment company spearheaded by Brent Doster and Branden Holder, two passionate entrepreneurs who already operate their individual businesses in the central Indiana area. Both Anderson University alumni a decade apart, we have worked together professionally and personally for over six years. Our collaboration presents a uniquely balanced yin and yang of business acumen, customer service, and marketing/brand management that will aim to breathe a new existence into the State Theatre as a multi-purpose live entertainment venue featuring music, comedy, classic movies and more.
