Yesterday I screwed up.

Our meal was Chicken Tetrazzini with a side of Roasted Vegetables.

We made everything from scratch, all fresh, started cooking at 6AM.
We boxed and put the meals in our insulated cases for delivery as usual.

Mistake 1 : I used chicken breast, but really prefer dark meat. Then chicken was juicy and cooked perfectly. Chicken breast dries out super easy, especially when reheated.

Mistake 2 : we sauced the entrees as though someone was going to eat the meal right away. Most people eat our meals for dinner. Pasta absorbs all the sauce and voila, dry noodles.

Mistake 3 : I got cocky, it tastes good, send it. Not thinking about the user experience. When you get your meal, when you reheat it, what’s it going to look like, what’s the quality going to be.

It’s something I ponder over every week while menu planning. This one just didn’t work.
I received a message from a relatively new customer of mine about the meal lacking sauce, chicken being dry. Even a cookie that was burnt.

Mistake 4 : I wasn’t diligent.

The customer was suuuuuuper respectful, she was honest, which was tough, but I needed that. She didn’t ask for ANYTHING, just true kind feedback. I know she cares about supporting us and our little business. If she didn’t she would have just never ordered again and been done with it. Or just blasted me on social media, but she didn’t.

She still might never order which I can understand, but she took the time for honesty, and I am grateful.

I will do better, and if I don’t, if something isn’t right please tell me.

Thank you for all your support. I can’t believe how wonderful everyone has been!
