JULY 17 AWARENESS EVENT WILL RAISE FUNDS AND HOPE FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
Guest Speakers, Live Music, Raffles, Food Trucks, and More for a Cause
ARLINGTON, Texas—On Saturday, July 17 from noon to 7 p.m. at River Legacy Park (Elm Grove Pavilion, 703 NW Green Oaks Blvd in Arlington), gather to celebrate the disability community and raise funds for an important cause. Bring chairs or a blanket and enjoy guest speakers from the disability community, live music, raffles, food trucks, and more in the park.
The Wheels for Rick fundraiser and awareness event will help the community to understand the lives of people with disabilities while supporting charitable fundraising efforts for an accessible van through the nonprofit Help Hope Live.

From 2 p.m. to 3:35 p.m., roll a mile in someone else’s shoes as you hear from guest speakers including local politicians Marvin Sutton and Dewayne Washington plus representatives from United Access, Pate Rehab, Lift Aids, Rollx Vans, MobilityWorks, Lions Club, Daystar, and others
Raffles will be drawn at 4 p.m. with all raffle entries benefitting the charity
Bring chairs or a blanket (there is no formal seating in the park). Picnic tables are first come, first served. The playground will be available for kids to enjoy
The event is free to attend, but donations to the charity will be gratefully accepted throughout the day. Any funds raised will benefit Help Hope Live to assist with fundraising for an accessible van for the event planner, Rick Snyder, an Arlington resident living with paralysis since a car accident when he was 26.
“If I could change one thing, it would be awareness of disabilities like mine in our society,” said Rick. “This kind of accident can happen to anyone, and there is such a strong need to help people get back to being productive members of society.”
Rick is fundraising for an accessible van—typically $20,000 to $70,000 with no help from insurance—through the national nonprofit Help Hope Live. By working directly with the nonprofit, Rick can ensure that all donations in his honor are tax deductible, medically verified, and responsibly managed. They will not affect his personal income or assets, which is a critical consideration: Rick receives just $509 per month in Social Security disability with a strict income cap for any additional earnings or he loses his benefits.
