Normandy - Goodnight from the North Coast

We had dinner at a restaurant with a live pianist tonight, and it wasn't long before were gathered around the piano singing for their supper. We had plenty of daylight left, so we went out exploring and discovered an 8th century castle and 13th century cathedral. In France, those are as common as Dollar Generals back home.

We're going to bed early (comparatively) tonight to catch our bus to Paris bright and early in the morning!

Bienvenue en France!

spent the day on a ferry from Portsmouth, England to Cherbourg, France. We had a little time before we embarked, so we went to visit Charles Dickens birthplace. Once on the ferry, the kids had freedom to relax as they saw fir - some took naps, some chose to read, some played with the amenities provided by the ship, but mostly we just enjoyed each other's company.

We landed in France (pictured) and were taken by taxi to our hotel. Tomorrow we are up bright and early to visit Mont St. Michel and the beaches of Normandy where the D-Day landings took place.

are in for the night. It has been a PACKED day, that concluded with a visit to Sir Frances Drake's ship, The Golden Hinde.(pictured) We took LOTS of pictures and videos, but they need a little editing before we share them - look for them in the near future.

Tomorrow is a travel day. We take a bus to Portsmouth (from whence the D-Day invasion launched) and cross the English channel by ferry to land in France around bedtime. I am uncertain what the cell service/internet situation will be onboard, so I just wanted to warn you there may be a large gap between calls from your child.
