Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers!! My mom is not here physically but she is always in my heart. I can always hear her and feel her spirit!!! My mother and I both loved flowers. As a florist…I rarely receive flowers!! People feel that we don’t want them because we deal with them so much. This is not true for me at least!! My son Owen sent me my favorite flower today. The orchid!!! He knew there was no problem here to receive a bloom or two. Thank you Owen for thinking of your mom! Love you!

My home girl reached out and said “hey I need a little flower arrangement…you know something small. I already have this, that, and the other…I want to give something else!!Flowers would be a nice touch!” I thought about:

LAGNIAPPE- (if you know, you know 😉)

Pronounced as a French word, lagniappe (lan-yap) is a Cajun-French inspired noun that means “a little extra.” Often used to describe something good, this word is the NOLA-call for receiving anything extra! Here we go…a little lagniappe!!! She said she went to Spelman and she is classy!! I knew the assignment…needless to say loved by all! Thank you home girl Rihanna LB for supporting Peppermint Blooms! I have decided that I want a simple life! Now what exactly does that mean? I want to enjoy the beautiful things in life. Beautiful people, relationships, a rainy day, a sunny day, family, a soft touch, conversations that mean the most, expressions of love, and I can go on!!! What about you? As I continue to work with these flowers which I love…I have fallen in love with this overlooked beauty!!! Introducing the miniature carnation!!! That’s right the mini-carnation…an inexpensive flower but SIMPLY beautiful!!
Check it out in all its glory!!! A little something leftover from a recent arrangement over 8 days ago and still simply beautiful!! You go girl…you light up every corner and make me smile!

The Amaryllis!! She is a native of South Africa and typically used for the holiday because she starts blooming in late December. She is beautiful!!! I learned from her this past Friday…that she can be something else!!! She was purchased for a wedding but did not open up until 2 days after. Needless to say I was not happy. The bouquet was replaced with another flower and the bouquet turned out absolutely beautiful…needless to say the bride was happy!!! Lesson: always have a backup plan especially when dealing with an uncommon, delicate, and sometimes tempermental flower!!! Always be ready for this type of challenge and don’t be afraid to try new flowers!!! 🌺 🌸 💐

As I look at all the commercialism of the holidays, reflect on who & what is important & what is not, and what life truly means…I am brought to a different place. This weekend I gave my guy/my love a special gift! He said it was the best gift he has ever received for so many reasons! A gift for a phenomenal artist, by an amazing artist, and given by an artist. Take time to love, understand, and recognize the who and the what of life that is really important! Thank you Tony you are truly appreciated and are absolutely amazing!❤️ •
