Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance

Today, we remember and honor the brave Americans who met the terror of September 11 with extraordinary acts of courage and sacrifice. In our darkest hour — when terrorists believed they could bring our country to its knees — those Americans proved that our Nation’s unbreakable spirit would prevail.

In the moments, days, and years after the attacks on September 11, heroes were forged. Firefighters, police officers, and first responders ran into the inferno of jet fuel and debris at Ground Zero, risking their own lives to save the lives of others. Service members and civilians rushed into the fiery breach at the Pentagon again and again to rescue their colleagues. The patriotic passengers of Flight 93 made the ultimate sacrifice to prevent their plane from being used to take more innocent souls. And in big cities, rural towns, suburbs, and Tribal communities, hundreds of thousands of American hands went up — ready to serve our Nation in uniform.

We owe these patriots of the 9/11 Generation a debt of gratitude that we can never fully repay. They were deployed to Afghanistan to make sure the United States would not be attacked again. They served in Iraq and other war zones to defend our democracy and deny terrorists safe haven.

Calling All Members of 964!

This Saturday ( 9-14-24 ) will be a Lodge Property Clean Up Day! 8am-3pm.

There is lots to do, both in front of the lodge by the downstairs entry, weeds and vines to be cut, painting to be done on our deck, and work around the softball field on back side of the fence.

if you are a new member- this would be a great way to jump in and get active and meet some of the more 'seasoned" members!

First responders are the backbone of our communities. Emergency medical officials treat those in pain. Firefighters carry victims to safety. Emergency managers marshal resources. 9-1-1 call takers field distress calls day and night. Law enforcement officials make sure our neighborhoods remain safe.

Across the United States, an estimated 4.6 million career and volunteer firefighters, police officers, emergency medical technicians, and paramedics risk their lives to protect us. Their daily responsibilities come with extraordinary challenges that they face with bravery and dedication—but these challenges often take a heavy toll. Experiencing critical incidents exposes first responders to life-threatening situations, alarming events, and immense stress, which can lead to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

We invite you to the Augusta Elks First Responder Recognition Event on Sunday, September 22, 2024, from noon to 4:00 p.m.

When a veteran requires assistance with heating oil, Fielding’s Oil will deliver up to 200 gallons of fuel. The cost of the fuel will be deducted (at a discounted rate) from the account set up for this program.
