BiMA.fest

BiMA.fest Baltimore Independent Music & Arts FestivalAug 25th-28th, 2011 http://bimafest.com For its 2nd year BiMA.fest will take place from August 25th-28th, 2011.

Much of the format and some of the venues will be the same. We hope to have about the same number of artists performing again this year. So far there are a lot of great performers already confirmed. We’ve added some new features to the site this time so that you can conveniently listen to the confirmed acts as you read about them. Venues confirmed so far include The Ottobar, The Windup Space, The

Hexagon, & The Sidebar. This year festival passes will again be available through our friends at Missiontix, and once again we’ll be offering both one day and three day passes. Tickets to the individual shows will also be available online.

What a crazy weekend! Thanks so much to all the venues, bands, and audiences who were able to participate in BiMA.fest despite the iffy weather. We know it was a bit challenging and some people just weren't able to make it. We'll see you next year!

08/27/2011

Update: tonight's show at Golden West is cancelled. Not really weather related. The rest of BiMA.fest is still on!

08/27/2011

The weather forecast for Baltimore is looking pretty good right now! All BiMA.fest performances are now scheduled to happen indoors, so we're still on. If anything changes we will let you all know right away. Keep thinking positive thoughts!

08/25/2011

We'll have volunteers helping out with passes and info at BiMA.fest events. If you want to: pick up your pass at Ottobar, Sidebar, or Windup Space; upgrade an existing pass or ticket to another type of pass; look at the schedule of events; ask general questions about anything someone will be there to help you. Just ask!

08/24/2011

Purchase advance passes? Take yourself and your ID to Windup Space, Ottobar, or Sidebar during a BiMA.fest event to exchange your ticket for an official pass.

Birds of Avalon, Free Electric State, Savage Knights

Birds of Avalon and Free Electric State will be at BiMA.fest this year. Check out indyweek.com's take on their styles.

Birds of Avalon have always been at their best when they bridge the gap between huge, hooky rock and warped psychedelia. This year's self-titled third LP, and the band's latest four-piece incarnation, play consistently in that sweet spot, which means now might be the best time to see them. Durham's ...

Punk Rock Banter With Brooklyn’s The Shondes

The Shondes -- meaning "shame" or "disgrace" in Yiddish -- is an an utterance heard time and time again from the mouths of disappointed Jewish parents. But fear not, self-conscious kinderlekh, the word has been reclaimed by four intrepid Brooklynites who mock shame where it stands. Brooklyn's...
