Today I’m prepping for two upcoming Fall Festivals that I’ve been hired to paint at. The first is at Casper Farms in Stafford on Sunday the 13th from 12-5pm and the second is at Sunny Sprays in LeRoy on Saturday the 19th from 1-6pm. Hope to see you out at one (or both!). There will be food, live music and lots of fun things for the kids to do! What Fall designs would you like to see on the board?

*Introduction time:*
Hi, my name is Katy and I’m the artist behind The Painted Pixie. I am a fully insured professional face painter and glitter tattoo artist located in Western NY. I was trained in studio art- drawing and painting- but stepped aside to be a full-time stay at home momma to my three sweet kiddos for the past 11+ years. My kids are getting older now and I was getting the itch to branch out and be creative again and face painting seemed to be the avenue of choice! It’s pretty straightforward: I get to paint and create, I get to bring joy and make kids smile, it doesn’t take too much time away from my family, and at the end of the day I just pack up and wash my brushes & I’m done. It’s been *such* a fun thing for me this year and a great way to make connections in our community! I love painting at farmers markets, festivals and corporate events, but birthday parties are really my happy place. Thanks for following along on my journey- I have learned and grown so much already! I have a big carnival themed birthday coming up in a few weeks & the birthday boy specifically requested Fortnite designs. I’m going to be honest- I didn’t even know what Fortnite was. I was a teeny bit nervous about it, but I love a good challenge so I did some research and found someone online who sold custom stencils and came up with a killer design that I was really pretty happy with! Birthday boy approved👍🏻

Working on some colorful designs for a Fall Festival! When I get hired for high-traffic events, I always ask the question: do you want me to paint each person or is the goal to get as many people through the line as possible? If they want to get a high volume of people through quickly, then themed stencils are my go-to! Some painters will argue that this is like “cheating” but the result is quick and consistent and I end up spending about 2mins per person in my chair vs. 7-9mins and when you have hundreds of people to make it through, this is definitely the way to go!

Closing the books on an amazing September a week early to rest and spend some much needed time with my family doing all the Fall things…you guys kept me *B-U-S-Y* this month! I kicked it off painting over the Labor Day weekend at the two day long Wings Over Batavia Air Show, kids school started the very next day, and then I painted at FOUR weekend birthday parties, which was so much fun (and surprisingly hot for September)! Outside of my little face painting gig, I’m a wife of 17years to my hard-working man and a mom of three great kiddos who also keep me very busy with school/sports/dance/ church/ youth group. Moving into this school year, I’ll be accepting significantly less weekend bookings than I was able to over the summer so I can be sure to be at every school function and sporting event, but I’ll definitely still be around! October is already all booked up for parties (can you believe it?!?), but you can DM me to inquire about a few November spots I have left if you need a face painter for a party or event! So very thankful for every single one of you who stopped by my booth, took a business card or wrote and inquired about prices and availability! Thank you for all of your support and for including me in your party planning and letting me be a part of your special days! It really was such a great Summer and I’ve learned so much and met so many great people in the community along the way!

A BIG thank you to Lindsay's Cupcakes for *the cutest* cupcakes! They were a huge hit at our princess party this weekend (and so yummy too)! 9/11…I will never forget. I can still remember exactly where I was when we heard the news. In honor and remembrance of those who were lost and all the brave men and women who ran into the burning buildings to help… I felt reflective and caught up in my feelings thinking back to that day, so I pulled out my brushes and painted something quickly. I have lived in New York for almost five years now and I cannot imagine how it felt to be in the city that day. I do distinctly remember that the nation felt so united in our grief and disbelief. I wish we felt more united now…Lord, be near.

It’s September, did everyone survive the first week of school?! Today I’m painting at the first of four birthday parties I have booked for this month! I have *really* been looking forward to this one in particular- it’s going to be a fun time with great people!

This fairy mask was so magical! I love everything about it💕

My very favorite thing is when someone sits down in my chair and says “just surprise me and have fun!” This friend is always bright and colorful and was selling her flowers at the market down the way, so I made this flower eye design to match her shirt and headband and I just really loved how it came out. Adults love face paint too!
