We’re back at Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan and Aronoff for a law firm mixer, with upscale appetizers for noshing.

Pictures are a bit sparse because - admittedly - I was home sick and couldn’t help out with social media and Chris was doing all the setup and fielding inquiries of “Who is the chef?!?” plus being bugged by me to take pics.

But trust me, this food was beautiful and delicious, even without the flashy social media pics!

We’re back at Congregation Beth Tikvah celebrating a bat mitzvah with a delicious taco bar spread!

I don’t normally show decorations since they aren’t ours, but I have to brag a bit. When the client first called us she mentioned not being sure what to do for decorations. Chris suggested piñatas in the shapes of all the things the guest of honor loved. The client loved the idea and it was neat to see it come alive!!

Now selling chicken noodle soup by the quart! We'll deliver 12/29 to the 43209 area, or pickup in Bexley. It's also not too late to get in a braised beef short rib order for delivery on Friday!

Our soup is loaded with hand-made herbed egg noodles, fresh chicken breast, carrots, celery, onion and a from-scratch chicken stock. We suggest stocking your freezer since we don't often have time to make this soup.

(Did you know a quart of Panera chicken noodle soup with tax is $23?!? I discovered that last week and was floored. We sell ours for $16, plus free delivery, and it's all from-scratch made fresh.)

We are taking orders now for heat-and-serve braised beef short ribs! Treat your family to a rich and hearty serving of these delicious ribs for a New Years Eve treat. These ribs are braised twice so they are fork tender and are served with a savory red wine braising reduction. These are truly a labor of love!

We'll deliver to the Bexley area on December 29th, or we can hold until you are available. Pick up in Bexley is also available. The ribs are packaged so they can be easily reheated and can be safely frozen for several months.

Ribs can be purchased at this link:

If you use a can opener on BOTH ends of your can of tomato paste, you can remove one side and then use the other end to cleanly push the paste through the can. Chris taught me this yesterday and I can’t stop thinking about it.

We’re taking the first step in making braised beef short ribs today and they small AMAZING!!

I started to write out all the steps but there are so many. Suffice to say, lots of trimming, searing, braising, reducing and love go into these. In fact, it’s actually a 2-3 day process!

These are wonderful for holiday parties, corporate events, graduation parties and in-home dinner parties. Basically, almost all events can benefit from having these ribs! If you’d like to have them at your next event, shoot Chris an email at [email protected].

We helped our client find a venue central to her guests and the host did a wonderful job decorating the location!

Menu consists of:
* smoked cheddar and brisket sliders

* Bulldog’s own pasta salad, a mix of tortellini, blistered tomatoes, Kalamata olives, roasted artichokes and fresh herbs, tossed in a red wine and garlic vinaigrette
* crudite with from-scratch Ranch dressing
* chocolate mousse tartlets

Today was a fun event because it was a brand new client, a law firm that was referred to us by a running buddy of mine. (Thank you Beth O'Boyle Estelle!!!) We love meeting new people and growing our business!

We served brisket sliders with smoked cheddar, grilled chicken pesto sliders, crudite, charcuterie, caprese salad skewers, our own Bulldog pasta salad, chocolate mousse tartlets and macarons.

We returned for a second year to provide a holiday lunch to the law firm where I’m a legal secretary. The setup was so pretty this year!

This meal included a prime rib carving station, garlic pesto chicken, a baked potato bar, green beans almondine and maple balsamic glazed carrots, plus chocolate mousse tartlets for dessert. (We even sous vide-d the meat onsite so it was perfectly hot and delicious at mealtime!)

It was so nice to see 40+ coworkers all sharing a meal together, something that rarely happens in this post-Covid era!

11/16/2023

Hi everyone!

I recently watched a YouTube video of restaurant food hacks, and it got me thinking that it would be nice to share with everyone some of the tools of the trade we could not live without. These are items we would have even if we did not own a catering business and they are perfect for a home chef.

Perhaps you have a foodie in your life and you're looking for the perfect gift, or maybe you just want to treat yourself!

(This is in no way a sponsored email and, while the links are to Amazon (mostly), that's just for convenience. Please do shop local!)

Without further ado, I present to you our most loved and used kitchen items, priced from low to high.

These Exact Vegetable Peelers ($15 for 3) – a.co/d/6fFAXmT
We’ve found the best veggie peelers are not the more expensive peelers with the ergonomic handles. Instead, these have a nice wide blade that quickly and easily gets the job done and the wide handle means you can hold it in different ways if your hand starts to cramp.

Herb Mincer ($20) - a.co/d/g0QNf04
Fresh herbs take food to the next level, and this mincer makes it incredibly quick and easy. We keep one at home and one in our commissary kitchen because it makes a mundane task so much better.

12”x18” Cutting Boards ($30) - a.co/d/ggOwxiD
We have a four pack of these cutting boards and just love them. They have a non-stick grip so they don’t slide around and they stack perfectly.

Bluetooth Grill Thermometer ($50) - a.co/d/461WSR7
While is great for smoking meat, we also love it when cooking food in the oven! When making something like meatloaf, rather than guessing on the time, you can just stick a prod in it, attach the monitor to your oven, and set the temperature. Since this operates through an app on your phone, you can monitor the temperature of your food from anywhere.

18”x24” Cutting Board ($65-75) - a.co/d/gENSoXp
Having a large (huge!) cutting board is a game changer! We use this all the time for carving large sides of meat or rolling out dough.

Sous Vide Wand ($80-$200) - anovaculinary.com/pages/find-your-anova-precision-cooker
This magic tool is so amazing, we now own three! We vac seal all types of food before using the sous vide, but the internet tells me you can use Ziploc bags if you don’t have a vac sealer. We take raw meat, add aromatics, seal it, and sous vide it to our desired temp. Then we let it rest before charring the meat on the grill. We also love stocking our freezer with soups, rice pilaf, potatoes au gratin, etc. and throwing them in a sous vide bath to heat for dinner. When we have extra cooked meat (ground beef for tacos, chipotle chicken thighs, etc.) we vac seal and freeze it, and later can throw it in the sous vide for a quick and no-mess dinner.

Headphones ($130) - a.co/d/9NTmCHZ
A good pair of headphones is a game changer. These Aftershokz headphones are wireless and you can use them when talking on the phone as well. Plus, if your hands are messy, you can answer your phone just by pushing the button with your shoulder (if you’re so inclined!). They’re also bone conducting, so you’ll be able to hear the noises around you while still hearing your music or podcasts. Chris and I have been using them for several years now. I think it’s safe to say we both use our headphones 4+ hours a day, we love them so much!

Bar Sealer ($400+) – a.co/d/2aEPsYT
It’s no secret we love our sous vide wands, but we also are obsessed with our vacuum sealers, and the two go hand-in-hand. We have both a bar sealer and a chamber sealer, but a home chef will find a bar sealer to meet their needs. (We don’t have experience with the less expensive FoodSaver brand that is so popular so we cannot vouch for that. However, judging by reviews, I suspect it would work perfectly fine.)

The bar sealer we use is currently for sale on Amazon for $400. Bar sealers are nice because, in addition to bags, they also sell ‘cut to fit’ bags that work well when packaging larger, longer cuts of meat like brisket. If you do buy a bar sealer or chamber sealer, make sure to buy bags with it. We are happy to share recommendations on that.

Chamber Sealer ($900+) - a.co/d/12pEgLf)
If you do want to crazy with vac sealing because it’s so satisfying, this chamber vac sealer is a newer model to the one we have. We’ve used ours hundreds of times with no issues. It weighs a million pounds so be warned!

*********************************************************************************************

If you have any questions on any of these items, please reach out. Some of them may seem intimidating at first, but trust me, they will make your time in the kitchen so much better! And I promise they're all easy to master!

We hope everyone has a wonderful holiday! Please keep us in mind for your catering needs! Emails can be sent to [email protected] or give him a call at 614-354-9778.

Best,

We're unfortunately not going to be able to offer a Thanksgiving meal this year. We'd love to but we just don't have the staff. Our suggestion is you check out the Thanksgiving meal package from 101 Beer Kitchen. It's one of our favorite restaurants and they generally do a good job.

11/01/2023

We'll let everyone know by this Friday, 11/3, if we will be offering Thanksgiving meals again. Thanks for your patience!

hosted a community dinner tonight.
Hosts provided food for a table of 8 and guests were randomly sat to invite conversation and new friendships. I really hope it goes well because I just love this initiative!

We were asked to provide one table a gluten free, vegetarian meal of spaghetti squash and Impossible meatballs, plus gluten free bread with dipping oil and a salad. (The plan was not to have caterers but people get busy. 🤷🏻‍♀️)

I took off work today to go on a small vacation, but my law firm wanted Bulldog Catering, LLC to cater their lunch, so back I went🤣. I guess that’s what I get for marrying such a talented chef!

Not all is pictured but the menu is: from-scratch tomato basil bisque, salad bar, chicken salad croissants, southwestern steak wraps and chocolate chip cookies.
