Minnesota Masonic Heritage Center Attend or host a performance, tour the Masonic Museum, or plan your wedding, special event or business meeting at Minnesota Masonic Heritage Center!

The rich history of Freemasonry began in the Middle Ages and is tightly interwoven with the history of the United States. Indeed, many U.S. presidents were Masons, as well as countless other public figures. Minnesota Masonry began over 160 years ago, and today Minnesota is home to 20,000 Masons and Order of the Eastern Star Members. Over the years, Masonry has greatly influenced Minnesota history

and the lives of its residents, a legacy preserved by Minnesota Masonic Charities and the new Minnesota Masonic Heritage Center. The 47,000 SF Heritage Center serves as a working tribute to the concepts and contributions of Freemasonry and also as an intimate venue for performances, weddings, business meetings and other occasions.

On this Veterans Day we want to recognize all of our military veterans and say, "Thank You for your service."

Friday we also worked with Bloomington MN City Government to provide lunch for their Veterans Appreciation Lunch. It was a wonderful afternoon and a great way to honors those that have served for our country.

Again we thank you!

Never Forget - this day 23 years ago.
Did you know a Bloomington native's name is located on Panel S-68 of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum's South Pool in New York City? Along with those of other passengers of Flight 93, Thomas E. Burnett, Jr. was a graduate of Jefferson High School and is one of the many we honor and remember from this tragic day in history.

Working in collections storage today we came across the oldest patent owned by the MMHC! The heritage center has just under 125 patents in its collection from various bodies. This patent, dated December 16, 1756, was given to Brother W. Edward Langford by an unknown Blue Lodge in Charles Town, South Carolina. Charles Town changed its name to Charleston, SC, in 1783. It's always exciting to see the variety of artifacts in our collection! To learn more about the Museum collection, visit our website at www.masonicheritagecenter.org.

Coming up Oct. 6th, Bloomington Symphony Orchestra - Minnesota launches its 62nd concert season, its eleventh with Music Director Manny Laureano. In the opening concert of the 2024-25 season, they will open with the irreverent and witty Variations on America, by Charles Ives, which will leave you chuckling.

The BSO will showcase its beloved concertmaster, Michael Sutton, as he interprets the lovely The Lark Ascending, written by British composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. This piece is guaranteed to provide you with a moment of wonder, as you imagine a bird in flight.

After intermission, your orchestra will present the pinnacle of the Romantic period as only Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky could provide, in his magnificent Symphony No. 5 in E Minor.

Note the new concert start time of 2 pm.

The MMHC has been working on a running inventory of its Museum collection - this means going shelving unit by shelving unit to make sure what's on each shelf is catalogued in our database. Work over the past few months has been with the textile collection. These objects range in date from 1850-1950 and are extremely elaborate (and very heavy!). Made of satins, velvets, brocades, laces, and bullion to name a few fabrics, these items help tell the story of Freemasonry in Minnesota in a tangible way. Seen here is a Captain of the Host robe used by St. John's Chapter No. 9, RAM, of Minneapolis. It was manufactured by the Henderson-Ames Co. of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and dates between 1893-1933. To learn more about our collections, visit the MMHC's website at www.heritagecenter.org.
