American Modified Series

American Modified Series UMP DirtCar sanctioned. The group has sanctioned events in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee.

Founded in 2010, the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series is an organization that is promoting and sanctioning the fastest growing group of racers in the country in the form of the Dirt Open Wheel Modified division. Today's current Dirt Open Wheel Modified features a tubular chassis from the firewall back, but utilize a stock front clip from a passenger vehicle. However, there is reall

y nothing stock about a Dirt Open Wheel Modified. The cars are required to weigh 2,400 pounds with the driver and possess engines that can make upwards of 700 horsepower, turning in excess of 8,000 RPM's, with engines being based on Chevrolet, Ford, MOPAR, and Toyota V-8 power plants. The American Modified Series sanctions its events under the governing banner of the UMP DIRTcar organization, with drivers not only eligible to earn points toward the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series Championship Standings, but also earning National Points toward the overall UMP DirtCar Modified National Championship. Having started slowly and steadily rising through the ranks, the Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series is set for its biggest season ever as it rolls into its seventh season in 2016. The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series is about giving the racers of the Dirt Open Wheel Modified division a platform to gain exposure for themselves and sponsors, compete for elevated amounts of prize money compared to weekly racing shows, compete against the top regional Dirt Open Wheel Modified racers, and to travel and race at some of the best racing venues in the region that promote Dirt Open Wheel Modified competition.

American Modified Series Releases 2022 Season Schedule

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(February 14, 2022) โ€“ The officials of the American Modified Series are excited to announce the 2022 race schedule. With over 19 race nights on the schedule, in 3 different states, it is sure to be an exciting season. This includes several visits to the Land of Lincoln for some big paydays and first ever visit to the Western Kentucky Speedway in September.

The series will start the year off at the Farmer City Raceway as part of the World of Outlaws โ€œIllini 100โ€ weekend April 1st and 2nd. The best drivers in the Midwest will be looking to kick off their race seasons at Farmer City with $600 to win qualifying features on Friday night and $2,500 top prize on Saturday.

The tour will invade several venues multiple times in 2022. Moler Raceway Park, Florence Speedway, and Western Kentucky Speedway all find multiple races on the schedule. We will see the traditional Memorial Day Illinois weekend with a Friday night at Farmer City followed by two consecutive nights at Fayette County Speedway with a finale paying $3,000 to win.

A big weekend for the American Modified Series will take place in August with three straight nights at the Florence Speedway during the North South 100 on August 11-13th. Thursday and Friday AMS drivers will run for $1,000 to win and $3,000 to win finale on Saturday.

On Labor Day weekend the tour will make its third stop to the Farmer City Raceway with $2,500 to win. On Saturday night the series will invade the Fairbury Speedway for the $10,000 to win Super Nationals. The weekend will wrap up at Fayette County Speedway with a hefty $5,000 prize.

In September the series will make its debut visit to Western Kentucky Speedway with a two-night show paying $1,500 and $3,000 to win. The following weekend the series will look to crown their series champion at Fayette County Speedway for the AMS Championship Weekend. The Series will look to pay $1,500 to win in possible twin features and a hefty purse in the season finale that is not finalized at this time. More details on the 2022 season finale will be given later.

Brian Shaw, the 2021 series champion, will look to hold on to his reign with a lot of hungry drivers gunning for him. The series has been going through a difficult time with the recent passing of its co-owner, Dewayne Ragland. Series co-owner, Susie Stall, is poised and ready to continue the series on in 2022. โ€œDewayne would want us to carry on the series, so that is what we are going to do.โ€ More information will be given in the days to come, including who will be directing the series this season. The series officials are happy with the amazing schedule they have assembled for 2022 and look forward to seeing you at the track!

AMS CHAMP SHAW HONORED AT DIRTCAR BANQUET

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Jan 13, 2022) โ€“ This past Saturday night the racers under the DIRTcar Racing umbrella congregated in Springfield, Illinois to honor those who excelled in 2021. The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series operates under the DIRTcar Racing rulebook and attended the Crowne Plaza Hotel to take in the festivities.

Series Announcer, Tyson Graves, gave a recap on the 2021 race season to those in attendance on the main stage towards the end of the ceremonies. The top drivers in points were honored as well as 2022 series champion Brian Shaw. Brian gave a speech to thank those who head up the DIRTcar organization and those who helped make this past season a success.

The series also gave out its annual Ted Brown Award to honor someone who has went above and beyond over the years to give to our sport. This yearโ€™s award went to Larry โ€œBuddaโ€ Redenius from Budda Transmissions. Larry has been a staple to the dirt racing community for years with his Budda Transmissions and expertise. Larry was not in attendance to receive the award but was in tears when he was told by phone he had won.

The 2022 season is coming up quickly. The season schedule is near completion and will be made public in the days to come. The season will start in April during the Illini 100 weekend at Farmer City Raceway April 1st & 2nd.
