We received a nice thank you letter from Wood County Humane Society thanking us for the donation. We did tell them it was donations from the Christmas Light Show. Thank you to everyone that donated !!

First off, thank you to everyone who donated to our charity (Wood County Humane Society). The total donation amount was $91. Dawn and I will contribute $84 to make the total $175. Thanks again and we'll see you next year.

Well, the 2023 show is over and we started taking props down. It was a bittersweet year as we probably doubled if not tripled the traffic this year. It was great meeting people and hearing all the positive comments but the amount of repairs went up ten fold due to rain/bad pixels from China. I'll have a lot of work in the off season swapping out pixels. I have to look into a PSA during the show for traffic, car lights, etc. and I'm not sure about using the Jukebox feature since someone was hacking/filling out the queue with over 100 songs - there are a couple of things I can try to do to limit it.

I'll post the total dollar amount for our charity shortly but unfortunately I believe it was less than last year.

Thanks to everyone that donated and came out to see the lights.

** Notice **

Last call to come out and see the lights. The show will run tonight, tomorrow and Monday night (1/2/2024). So if you didn't see them or it was a night the show wasn't working, now is your chance.

We are still dealing with pixel repairs nightly but I'm trying to fix them as soon as I see them - I'm sure some of you have seen me outside doing repairs and they typically only take about 10-15 minutes so please bare with me.

Normally we only have 5-10 repairs per season but apparently I got some bad pixels from China and we've had over 40 repairs this season.

The show is up and running again.

I was out of town yesterday and I guess the sound wasn't working so if you stopped out I'm sorry. Unfortunately we've had a lot of repairs so thank you for understanding.

** Update **

Well, the show was working on but now we are having some issues again. I'm working trying to fix them now. The show is working about 85% - the controller for the right side of the house is down.

In addition, I had to shutdown the Jukebox feature since someone was just filling up the queue with songs. Last night, someone overloaded the queue with 102 songs and tonight it started happening again when no one was even watching the lights.

So we had some issues last night with the window matrix's and one of the fan arches. If you stopped out and everything wasn't working, I'm sorry.

I believe everything is fixed for tonight's show - I had a bad ethernet cable and I swapped out one of the controllers that seemed to be overheating.

You can now request songs from the playlist by going to the following website. I have 3 songs from last year's show if you missed it. I will add songs as time allows and this will only be enabled during the week so everyone can see this year's show uninterested on Friday and Saturday.

Create a custom website where viewers can see and request sequences for your light show.

PSA #2: We've had the police stop by twice now to tell people to park on the edge of the road (just in the grass) with your parking lights or hazard lights on.

Please don't park on the ditch (southbound) side of the road - I want to keep that side open to traffic and we don't was any cars accidently going into the ditch.

You are also welcome to park diagonally in my driveway (just in the grass).

The Pixel Grinch has been very active this year and I've been chasing(fixing) bad pixels on the main matrix for the last few days (4 repairs so far) so if you come out and there are issues I'm sorry but I'm fixing them as fast as possible.

I've swapped out the two bad pixels on the matrix and it appears to be working properly again.

So the long wait is over. Tonight will be the first official night of the 2023 show. I still have two fan arches that need to be finished and put out but everything else is done. The last two nights I've been testing and working out some technical issues but we had several cars stop and watch so I guess it's time to start the show.

Please only park in the grass on the east/northbound side of the road with just your parking lights on or if you are worried about traffic you can park diagonally in our driveway (just in the grass).

The long wait is almost over...we are working hard to get all the lights up. All the lights are on the house and we have about 40% left to do in the yard.
