We always seek opportunities to foster organic intimacy and connection within the wedding celebration - and this ceremony nailed it! With 80 of their closest people, E + J decided to get married amidst their guests standing in a circle around them. It was moving to witness the physical presence of warmth, gratitude, and support from their loved ones in the space. 10 out of 10 recommend this "seating" style for intimate ceremonies.

Alright, people. It's no secret that Good Neighbor Events loathes social media. Exhibit A: we hosted 25 events last year and made exactly 5 posts about it. It's not that we dislike sharing photos or making new friends...it's just that we hate all of the mental nonsense, comparison traps, and total time suck that comes with being on the platform. 😵‍💫

But before we get too preachy, we know that having a social presence can help clients engage with our work and feel connected to the planners behind it. So here we are, making an effort, despite our moral dilemma. We can't promise how often we'll post, but we can promise that we are deeply committed to caring for our clients and the community. And if posting on social is a way that our clients feel cared for, then gosh darn it we'll do it! 🫡

Most importantly, let's have a lot of fun this year! Let's dream big, stress less, and say YES to all of the weird, creative, non-traditional, "we've never seen that before" kind of stuff. Who's with us?! 🙋‍♀️

What a fun day!

The highlight of our 2022 occurred four months ago, on 9/17/22, when Ryan and I got married on our farm! We couldn't have done it without lots of help from our friends, including , who grew and arranged the flowers AND officiated, , who was our day-of coordinator, and , , and , who helped Ryan make amazing food featuring our farm's produce for the reception.

Hi all 👋 it's your neighborhood event planner popping in to give a HUGE THANKS to all of our 2022 clients. We were so lucky to work with such a glorious bunch of couples last year, like these two Mx babes, H + S. It's an absolute privilege to be such an integral part of folks' "best day ever" and we hope to continue to make you all proud. ❤️

Happy National Good Neighbor Day! ✌️🌎 We strive to be a company that prioritizes being a good neighbor and to let that be our guiding practice. We definitely stumble along the way and don't have all the answers, but we value listening, learning, and course-correcting when needed.

BIG NEWS📣 Good Neighbor Events now offers Wedding Officiation! I (Sarah) am thrilled to help couples bring meaning and intentionality to their ceremony celebration. In my years of wedding planning, the ceremony has been such a pain point for couples, especially those that don’t identify as religious or spiritual. Folks often have an incredible vision for their reception, but struggle to access a vision for their ceremony. One reason for this is that the ceremony has historical roots steeped in patriarchy, heteronormative traditions (e.g. “giving away the bride”) that no longer resonate with couples (thankfully!).

Our ethos is to help couples embody the essence of the ceremony traditions while leaving out the patriarchal BS. We welcome and celebrate ALL couples who are building a life of love, respect, and fun together.

One of the first weddings I ever planned was my own. Eight years later and I still love this work.

Happiest of anniversaries to my favorite human, Brendan! Marrying you on a snowy January day in a small WNY town was one of the best decisons I ever made.

Also worth noting: one of the worst decisons I ever made was making my bridesmates wear short, sleaveless dresses and stand in the cold for an hour. To this day, they still bring up how miserable they were HAHA

We never use the phrase "small wedding" at GNE. Small implies that there is something wrong or less than about your big day...which is major shame language that we are NOT about. What we are all about though is having an "intentionally-sized wedding"! An intentionally-sized celebration means that your wedding will be meaningful with 2 or 222 people there. Intention is committing to having the best day ever, no matter your guest numbers.

So here's your permission to plan an intentionally-sized love party. Whether it's because of covid or just because you only want 30 of your closest people there, you have our full support! 👨‍❤️‍👨
