I found this hand dyed teal hunter green wool from favorite tradesperson. She hand dyes wool and had enough yardage.

Here is the petticoat on the dress form with the jacket in progress. Let me just say… this jacket has been thru some changes. It is not the longer version that I normally make for Brunswick’s. I’ve had to alter the whole hem and angle the front otherwise, it would not look right on wearer.
Besides there were so many different styles of jackets in the 18th century. I think you just need to find the one that looks right on you.

I get a lot of sewing done when it’s snowing outside. Here is my Outlander gown. Outlander is a fiction fantasy drama and I only gather inspiration from it sinceI do authentic costuming.

I was so excited when i found this fabric years ago and knew it would be perfect for petticoats and waistcoat. Yes, women wore waistcoats of quilted or matalasse fabric to keep themselves warm in the winter. They were usually worn indoors in a casual setting so they were almost considered an undergarment. Here are the sleeve ruffles that I have been working on. They are stitched in silk thread on a lovely soft voile. I have to re-hoop 6 times for just one of these. Then wash wash wash the stabilizer out …THEN I can sew them up 😅

Working on some 18th cen. sleeve ruffles. This is fun until your thread breaks um…th times 😕. Although i can go out on the porch while stitching and enjoy this beautiful day!
