The historic Concrete Theatre was built in 1923 - it's the oldest theatre in Skagit County. In the 1920s it was the scene of silent movies, then later the first talkies. Other forms of entertainment were also featured, including boxing matches and church services. In 2009, Valerie Stafford and Fred West purchased the theatre, and after some major refurbishing and upgrading, reopened it on February 12, 2010. Now, the Concrete Theatre is equipped with the latest in digital equipment and Dolby Surround Sound. Our single-screen auditorium seats 130 people in comfortable seats with cup holders. MOVIES & EVENTS The Concrete Theatre shows movies every weekend, and occasionally at other times, as well. Live performances, concerts and other entertainment are also offered. FITNESS CLASSES The building is also the home of Encore Fitness, offering group fitness classes. Health and fitness coach Valerie Stafford teaches a variety of formats from Zumba to weight-training, from PiYo to Tabata Bootcamp. For the current schedule go to: http://www.EncoreFitnessCoaching.com. SPECIAL EVENTS We host fundraisers, movie-themed birthday parties for ages 5 and up, anniversary parties, community meetings and more. Every October we host the Concrete Ghost Walk, in cooperation with the Concrete Heritage Museum, and every January we’re part of the Concrete Chamber’s Skagit Eagle Festival, offering photography workshops and other presentations.
