Our Story

Now in its 51st season, the Music a` la Carte Concert series "brown bag" concerts occur most Fridays during fall, winter and spring terms in the beautiful Memorial Union Lounge. The drop-in style allows for faculty, staff, and community members to take a coffee break, lunch break, and enjoy a mid-day musical interlude of music that is rarely seen performed for free, in a comfortable, informal atmosphere.

This term, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not able to perform in the Memorial Union Lounge. But the music isn’t going to stop. Instead, we are programming a shortened series of 30-minute, Facebook Live performances, from the private home or studios of a variety of artists. The performances will occur at noon on Fridays through April and May. Here’s the schedule so far: Friday, April 3: Jan Michael Looking Wolf, Native American Flute Friday, April 10: Alicia Straka, Electric Accordian, Vocals Friday, April 17: Halie Loren, Jazz Vocals Friday, April 24: Bill March, Guitar and there are more to come! Music a la Carte is hosted by OSU music in the School of Arts & Communication at Oregon State University and is partially supported student fees and the Memorial Union.
