The City of Covington Parks and Recreation invites you to join them on Saturday, June 24 for a Flat Footin Good Time. Allen Dressler, Director of Parks and Recreation states “it will be an afternoon and evening of awesome bluegrass music with all the musical talent that is coming to the River Rock Amphitheatre on Saturday.” The event kicks off at 1pm with the band Eyes on Him from Bolar, Virginia. This group will be providing us with some bluegrass and gospel music. At 2:30 pm the local group from Bath County Southern Rail Express will take the stage. This talented group will be providing the crowd with some good bluegrass music. They have recorded several CDs and travel all over Virginia performing. At 4:30 pm the very talented group New Standard will provide us with a very energetic bluegrass show. This group of young men will also be providing several gospel tunes throughout their performance. The members of New Standard are from Bedford to Southwest Virginia and have been playing and recording music together for several years. At 7pm, the very talented Nothin Fancy returns to the RiverRock Amphitheatre to provide the crowd with some excellent bluegrass music. They have won the SPBGMA’s Entertaining Group of the Year 6 times. Concessions will be available from JKK Concessions, Flurries, Puff’s BBQ and Nowhere Brewing. Come out and join us for this free event.

Statler Brothers’ sons, Wil and Langdon Reid carry on their fathers’ Country Music Hall of Fame Legacy! It all takes place next Saturday, August 27 from 6:30 – 9:30 pm. Performing at 6:30 will be the talented group New Standard. They will be providing the audience with bluegrass and gospel music. Then at 8:00 pm Nashville Recording Artists Wilson Fairchild takes the stage to provide you with an hour and half of entertainment rather they are telling a story, singing one of their own songs or one of the Statler Brothers’ Songs you are sure to enjoy! Allen Dressler, Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Covington states, “if you close your eyes and just listen you could not tell it’s not their fathers on stage.” Wil and Langdon Reid, come from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and have spent their whole lives together performing and playing music as well as writing songs. They are determined to keep country music alive and you certainly will be amazed at their singing talent and their entertaining abilities. Their song titled “The Statler Brothers Song” which they wrote as a tribute to the former country group is sure to be performed and just to hear them perform that makes the evening worthwhile. Concerts like this one are one of a kind and it is taking place right here in Covington free to the public. We hope you can join us for the evening and enjoy some great music by very talented musicians and singers. Concessions will be available from JKK Concessions.

The members of New Standard may be from Amherst to Southwest Virginia but they are all Hokies and have been playing and recording music together for several years. At 5:30 we will have the very talented local clogging group the Rebels of Rhythm performing. These young ladies will definitely have a smile on their face and provide us with a very energetic foot stompin good show. Local group Southern Rail Express will take the stage at 6pm. This talented, local group of men will be providing the crowd with some good bluegrass music. They have recorded several CDs with the most current one earlier this year. At 8pm, Nashville Recording Group Mountain Heart will provide the crowd with 90 minutes filled with bluegrass, blues, country music and more. These talented young men have performed with such greats as Lynyrd Skynyrd, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss to name a few. They have been nominated and won several awards such as Grammys, CMA, ACM and IBMA. Concessions will be available from JKK Concessions, Flurries and Puff’s BBQ. Come out and join us for this free event.
