Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Bischak! Beautiful family ceremony last weekend at SS Peter and Paul Cathedral with reception at Le Meridien Indianapolis. Both Jennifer and Derek are engineers and both enjoy motorsports (Derek races). I LOVED that their reception venue includes some subtle nods to racing. When I visited a few days before the wedding, one of the staff at Spoke & Steele, the on-site restaurant, explained that some of the decor in the restaurant and hotel utilize parts of old race cars. I knew that I'd have to take groom pictures in the Steve McQueen room! The graphic wall with the Indy pagoda in the lobby, and the sculptural piece on a focal wall (the Indy track) also made great spots for couple pictures! Special thanks to collaborating vendor and especially Aimed Photography. Amy, that softbox is pure butter! Also serving Jennifer and Derek were Classic Cakes, Avant Garde Limousines, Coach & Transportation, and A Bride's Choice Florist, and Kristen Basey, Crystal Haffner and the catering team at Le Meridian. All the best to the Bischaks!!

ICOM 2023 Highlights! I love photographing this missions conference every year, and this year took me to Oklahoma City! Thanks to International Conference on Missions for the privilege to serve! Congratulations to Stephanie Garman Freed on a job well done as the 2023 president. Some of my personal highlights this year were meeting new people and reconnecting with regulars. I especially enjoyed reconnecting with Roger Munchian of Rescued Not Arrested along with his wife and teammates. Roger was able to speak in the main sessions a couple of times and share his updated book about his testimony and prison ministry.

Other highlights are always the worship time. Photographing the band and congregations during singing and prayer is always beautiful. This year there was a dedicated time during each main session to pray for the nations. Dom Jenkins headed that up. Each day a section of the audience would stand to represent the countries of each continent for a special prayer time.

Another highlight this year was the message by CIY director Jayson French in which he challenged the younger generation to not quit serving the Lord. He used rolls of duct tape as part of his illustration and then had students and young adults go and find a an older missionary or pastor in the congregation to encourage and pray for them.

Oklahoma City convention center is situated in a really lovely spot with a nice little park across the street. I eyed it every day from the convention center and finally took a short break to walk around and enjoy the outdoors. I took my cameras and enjoyed a few creative shots around golden hour on Saturday evening.

I always look forward to this job because it fills my heart, I get to do what I love, and I get to meet so many people who love Jesus!

Looking forward to next year in KY!

This weekend I enjoyed spending some time with my local art community in Danville! Gallery on the Square hosted the annual Plein Air event, and around 50 artists came out to participate and paint all over Hendricks County. The paintings were then turned in, judged, and cash awards were presented the same day. GOTS also hosted art activities for children including "chalk the walk," face painting, popcorn art, and coloring. Way to go GOTS for hosting such a great event, thanks to the several sponsors who donated generous cash awards for all the winners and to Danville Dips for sharing their space for the event! Congrats to all the winners! During the award presentations, the Gallery also awarded a scholarship to a local art student. Be sure to stop by the Gallery on the Square in Danville to check out all the paintings on display!

And here's the second wedding! I got to go back to my hometown of Lafayette for this one! It has been a privilege to photograph Madison and Brandan from the proposal to engagement party, engagement pictures, and now their wedding. With a huge wedding party and a packed church and reception, it is evident that this couple and their families are well loved by so many people. I even saw one of my former wedding couples at this wedding! That sure made me smile!
The wedding was at St. Ann Church & Shrine Catholic Church and the reception at Purdue Memorial Union. After the ceremony we spent some time taking pictures on campus at Purdue and at Harry's Chocolate Shop Inc. before heading over the Union. Madison and Brandon planned out their day thoughtfully and things ran remarkably smoothly!
Special thanks to Kristin Roberta Wann for the second shooting assist! She nailed it!

Busy weekend with 2 weddings! The first one was Morgan and Carson's wedding on Friday. Carson's mom (Stephanie Orr) and I have teamed up to photograph weddings in the past so I was honored to be part of her family's special day! Besides myself, Morgan Hancock was part of the photography team, and it was great to work alongside her! The couple were married at Boondocks Event Barn & Lodge (I had to clarify with Stephanie that the place is actually called "the Boondocks"! Lol!) The event coordinator Tatum did a great job to helping us all get around the property and told me the story of the double sycamore tree that is an especially meaningful spot on site. The couple read their own private vows to each other after their first look and then were married with all of the groom's brothers and their wives standing up with them. (We had fun with the bridal party pictures!) Thanks to the Orr family for having me out and for Morgan Hancock for teaming up on photography! Congratulations to Carson and Morgan Orr and families!

It's ballet weekend again! Congrats to all the dancers at The Children's Ballet! Here's a little vid of our marathon portrait day. ***The GoPro battery died as some point so several groups in the middle are missing in the video--but they were ALL photographed!*** Special thanks to Vanessa, Lily, and Samantha for helping out! Thanks to the Anne and Emily for giving me the opportunity to work with you all again! Thanks to the parents who volunteer behind the scenes to corral all the littles and help things run smoothly. Hugs and high fives to Ada and Mya, the two graduating seniors and beautiful dancers whom I've enjoyed photographing and watching grow over the last 6 years. All the best to you ladies! To all of the dancers, congrats on a job well done! "Break a Leg" this afternoon in your final performance!

My Story

β€œIf I should speak then let it be Of the grace that is greater than all my sin Of when justice was served and where mercy wins Of the kindness of Jesus that draws me in Oh to tell you my story is to tell of Him” -Big Daddy Weave

My story is inseparable from my faith in Jesus Christ. He is the core around which the rest of my life is centered. Although I am flawed like everyone else, my goal is to live this out as true as possible.

What in the world does that have to do with photography? Photography is the recording of images on a light sensitive surface. It is about light, it is about recording moments in time, it is about creativity. Light, Time, and Creativity. God has something to say about all of those things. As the Creator, He is THE Master Artist. We see His handiwork everywhere in the world, and practicing art is practicing the creative gift which is a reflection of His divine nature. God is Light. Learning to understand and use light in a skillful and creative way also utilizes His gift of creative expression. Time. God frequently encouraged believers in Scripture to memorialize and remember His goodness and provision with celebrations and altars. Photography is a way to record moments in time to remember, to memorialize, and to appreciate in the future. This is the philosophy that I bring to my craft whether it’s capturing a wedding or event to memorialize it for the future, creating portraits with skillful use of lighting or unusual creative portraits just for the sake of artistic expression, or simply capturing a real estate property with the best lighting possible. This is the β€œwhy” of my art. In the words of a beloved hymn, β€œThis is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the day long.”
