Thank you Iowa Live with Jackie Schmillen.
Be sure to get your tickets & join us this Sat. May 11th for House of DSM’s Fashion Show of Support to Fight S*x-Trafficking for Dorothy’s House.
Celebrating our 2nd annual event with a music filled venue featuring Iowa's top models who will walk the runway wearing our Spring/Summer's finest fashion from Des Moines' top retailers for a show that will be sure to entertain & move you. Throughout the evenings, vignettes of Dance Vision dancers up the level of entertainment, while we enlighten our community raising awareness for s*x-trafficking & funds for Dorothy’s House.
S*x trafficking happens in many forms, the common misconception is they are runaways being held against their will. While this is one scenario, there is a large growing trend of high school girls (& boys) who are being sold after school, on the weekends, who still go home & sleep in their beds at night. This happens by fraud, threats, intimidation & coercion. In many cases, younger men pose as caring "boyfriends", after winning over affection, proposals of s*xual favors/servicing of others in exchange for currency occur. After compliance, leverage & domination of power transpires. Others have obtained a photo of a girl (usually from online activity posing as a peer), then blackmail is used as they say "they'll show the school/soc.media/their parents”, if they don't do this favor "just once" (sadly, it's never just once). It's become one of the fastest growing trends of making money, as drugs can only be sold once, yet a girl can be sold over & over. To be clear, s*xpolitation is a form of s*x-trafficking, it takes on many different faces, happens to youth of every age, every demographic & style of home.
Dorothy’s House is safe place for teen victims of s*x trafficking & s*xploitation to recover.
All proceeds go to Dorothy's House.
Special thanks to our models: Alison Whitaker, Christiana Shannon & Lexie Tapper. House of DSM's Fashion Show of Support for Dorothy's House would like to thank our “super” models & Dornink Couture!
You could feel the love in the room...so many people who truly care about each other, and about our cause...much gratitude to all!
It was a sold-out show with our music filled venue of gorgeous models walking the runway wearing the most beautiful Spring/Summer fashion our city has to offer, while vignettes of dazzingly skilled dancers upped the level of entertainment, people were observed to be dancing in their seats;) Special thanks to Brittany, our special guest speaker & s*x-trafficked survivor who was equally touched by all the love she was received, as we honored "her" (and all the other victims who are still silenced). She bravely told her story, and we are forever changed...
To Kellie Markey, of Dorothy's House who deserved the honors of the night, for her fearless fight against s*x-trafficking and the recovery homes she has founded. They have helped many girls & this is just the beginning....Her dedication & heart is remarkable as she spends her days on Capital Hill, helping to write news laws & legislation to help teen victims of this crime.

The night will be filled with joy as our models grace the runway highlighting Des Moines’ finest apparel boutiques, retailers & emerging designers. We’ll have a special VIP gala room for our party, silent auction & many more details to come! With the best hearts involved, House of DSM is a group of socially conscious & charitable individuals whose spirit of generosity & compassion will help make significant changes in our community to help fight sex-trafficking. The revelance of this night will not only benefit Dorothy’s House, yet on a much grander scale, it will help allow other recovery homes to be opened across the country using the business model developed by Kellie Markey, founder of Dorothy’s House. So the importance is far-reaching & vital for the cause. As the US Dept of Justice states “there are fewer than 100 beds in the US for these victims” yet it is one of the oldest industries in the world. This is unacceptable & explains why it’s “OUR time” to be the first generation of people who demand & creates change here, and now. Gratitude that we are fortunate to enjoy this wonderful event, while we spotlight this inhumanity for others 🙏. To be a sponsor please contact: [email protected]. The night is going to be fast paced & FUN (expect nothing less) as you'll see beautiful models wearing gorgeous clothing, with choreographed dancers &, happening music. Save the date- Saturday, February 24th, 2018 at Wakonda Country Club. Our motivation is raising money for our two charities that WILL help change lives💪 (to be announced shortly...drumroll please), while we shine the light & increase awareness for Human Sex Trafficking that is sadly, happening all around us. We hope you'll give us the evening while we perform & entertain you with our spirit of gallantry, goodwill (along with some good looks & talent) and promise to bring some real joy to this February night! We just had our second model call & are thrilled with the models we've found🙏 (emails w/ results will be sent out by midnight tonight), and still have a few more spaces for taller girls that will fit women's size clothing. We're now looking for our "HERO sponsors" (give me a holla') and am interviewing designers, boutiques/local retailers, while Provision Media is producing ads for each boutique/clothing designer involved. With the best hearts involved (ego's left at the door), I can honestly say we are a group of socially conscience individuals whose generosity of spirit & compassion will help make great changes in our community. Interested in being a Sponsor, Fashion & Clothing Designer, Boutique/Retailer, Volunteer please contact me at [email protected]. Thank you to our board members, models, designers, boutiques, sponsors & all involved! Once again, we want to thank Steve @thepeakagency Sabetha @dance_vision Also thanks to @bombshellbettyssalon for providing hair & make-up. @thepeakagency. @richtsmeier22 @jaidyndance @maci.long @brodypizza @drewmumm @tatum.koch @elizabelle
We asked for some freestyle & we got it! A preview from Dance Vision dancers doing their thang! Thrilled for the entertainment they'll add to our "HOUSE OF DSM" Fashion Show, & am sure we'll raise roof at Wakonda! What a joy watching these talented "Dance Vision" dancers showing us ideas of what they can do for our show, and how they can introduce our designers for our "HOUSE OF DSM" Fashion Show!!! They will indeed raise the roof w/ their level of entertainment & we want to thank them all graciously! As well as Sabetha (their mighty leader) @ Dance Vision for her loving support, professionalism, and especially seeing the kids (who she's helped raise), who are all such wonderful people😇. It's pretty incredible seeing what her students have gone on to do in life, I'll have to post of list of her alumni as they're all off dancing for many of the most famous singers & groups on Earth, it's pretty mindboggling what she's produced & most important, WHO they are as people💪🏻💪🏼💪🏽💪🏾💪🏿. We're getting ready for our event on the evening of Saturday, February 24th, 2018 at Wakonda Country Club, we hope you'll plan on joining us! The show is sponsored by The Peak Agency, with more sponsors to be announced. A portion of the proceeds will go to two designated charities (to be revealed soon), as this is our way of giving back to our community! We embrace people from all walks of life and love diversity, we're inclusive, not exclusive- and most importantly we are ALL creating this fashion show to help others in need, and that's the exciting part! 🙏🏻🙏🏼🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🏿 Fashion designers may submit their work to- [email protected] Be sure to check out our page @houseofdsm. Once again, we want to thank Sabetha @dance_vision Vision for providing her choreographed dancers, for use of her space for our audition & our rehearsals. Also thanks to @bombshellbettyssalon for providing hair & make-up. @thepeakagency. @richtsmeier22 @jaidyndance @maci.long @brodypizza @drewmumm @tatum.koch @elizabelledance @hannahclarkofficial So many more details to come, they are unfolding daily...
