SPACE+TIME=THE MOMENT
Located at its new home in front of the Grand River Center lies brand new public Art created by Dubuque’s very own with Dan Aldeman 👏 🙌

Made possible through our previous Creative Empowerment grant, Aldeman reflects, “I wanted to create a sculpture that would reflect my love for Dubuque in a way that would live on for future generations.
The pyramid shape is something that has always fascinated me, so I decided to incorporate it in a sculpture that would mark time much like ancient civilizations once did 🪨
The stone represents a larger universe in which our home is located within 🌌
This was accomplished by creating a void that would let light stream through, marking a space on the ground within the shadow of the stone. It's really just a way to tell time, the sculpture acting as the clock 🕰️
Each important moment in time can be recorded with light and shadow 🌕 🌑

Human kind have recorded time for 10s of thousands of years in this way, marking out the seasons as well as important events. I also celebrate the moments spent with friends and family, whether it be special anniversaries or meeting the people we love over a lifetime 😌

Hopefully, when people stand and look at this piece, it will inspire them to remember the moment they are in and the space they occupie with the people they ♥️

The river represents our life's journey as we navigate through it 🌊
On the opposite side of the stone is our future, always expanding out into future times, in new spaces, creating moments in infinite ways 💭 ✨”
