For the first time in the history of Pro Modified Drag Racing, fans of the action-packed and awe-inspiring FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Type A Motorsports will watch their favorite class of drag racing, during race day, on television. The ultra-competitive category will be featured during the primary Sunday broadcast of NHRA drag racing on FS1 and FOX for all ten Pro Mod races.
Two-time NHRA Pro Mod world champion and category advocate Stevie โFastโ Jackson is part of the wider team responsible for securing guaranteed air time on each broadcast for the 10 Pro Mod events featured on this yearโs NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series schedule.
โIโve been to hundreds of racing events and the number one question I get asked is, when will fans get to see Pro Mods on the main TV broadcast,โ said Jackson. โWe have listened to you (the fans) because we love you, and here it comes. We are excited to deliver Pro Mod on the big show!โ Jackson went on to say โI am just a small part of a rock star group of folks who are as passionate and in love with Pro Modified as I am. There are a bunch of people that have sacrificed a lot to bring NHRA Pro Mod to the level itโs at now, and I am proud to work with some of the best in the business.โ
In addition to the existing 30-minute, in-depth broadcast dedicated to the Pro Mod category, the primary Sunday NHRA on FOX show will feature extensive coverage of NHRA Pro Mod competition in a response to the high demand the class has generated. In 2022, NHRA on FOX experienced some of the best viewership numbers the sport has ever seen including the biggest audience in NHRA history as the broadcast from the Pep Boys NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway averaged more than 1.6 million viewers with a peak of 2.8 million.
Three of the events featuring the FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Type A Motorsports will be on the FOX broadcast network, with the other seven on FS1, offering a phenomenal opportunity to attract new viewers to the categoryโs growing fan base.
โThe extremely exciting part of this, is that the racing community really came together to work with NHRA to make this happen,โ said Debbie OโRourke of Finish Line Consultants who represent the NHRA Pro Mod racers. โWeโve been digging deep to understand how to take Pro Mod to the next level. And here we are, in collaboration with NHRA, weโve managed to pull off this deal and we are thrilled to deliver this to the fans!โ
โThe NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series continues to be a growing attraction at NHRA events and weโre thrilled the class will have its biggest platform yet to showcase the talented racers involved and the incredible racing that takes place,โ said Brad Ge**er, NHRA vice president and chief development officer. โIt will also add another great aspect to our NHRA on FOX broadcasts, giving race fans a chance to see all the exciting action in the NHRA Pro Mod category on raceday.โ
The FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series also has a new presenting sponsor this season. Type A Motorsports, owned by Marty Robertson, specializes in buying and selling race cars, racing components and support vehicles. Additionally, the category has secured presenting sponsorship for each of the 10 events in which it will participate this season.
Coverage of the FuelTech NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series presented by Type A Motorsports will kick off in two weeks at the 54th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla. with a prime spot on the FOX broadcast network. Fans can tune into FOX starting at 12 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 12 for coverage.
