On September 12, Goodwin Nursing Alumni spanning decades of grad years gathered for a celebration with Jan Watts. It was a beautiful evening celebrating the incredible accomplishments of Goodwin's many, many nursing grads! For some, it was their first time at Goodwin's new beautiful campus!

On September 12, Goodwin University’s Nursing Alumni Association gathered at the East Hartford campus to honor Jan Watts, retired longtime director of the school’s nursing program. The graduates learned about Goodwin’s plans to create an enhanced, state-of-the art simulation lab in which nursing students will hone their diagnostic and patient care skills.

The University is also inaugurating a mentorship program for alumni to offer guidance and support to current students. Goodwin President Mark Scheinberg welcomes Jan upon her arrival at the event as Guy LaBella, Director of University Relations, Maria Auriemma, 2006 nursing graduate, and Melissa Tremblay, Grants and Foundation Associate, look on.

Rebuilding Together Manchester 2024 was a success! Thank you to the 20+ alumni, staff, and student volunteers from Goodwin who spent their Saturday morning doing yard work and making the property look beautiful. Keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities to volunteer and have fun!

He catered the quarterly Goodwin Foundation Board meeting yesterday and it was a hit! Jerk chicken, Spanish rice, mac & cheese, salad, and corn bread muffins!

"Goodwin University has had a great impact on my professional life. As an adult student, it was important to continue working while attending school. Goodwin University allowed me to do that. In 2010 I received my associate degree in Nursing. It was a hard road to follow, but Goodwin's staff was always there to encourage, support and guide me. The education I was given was essential to providing quality nursing care. For that reason, I reenrolled at Goodwin University and completed my BSN and master's degree in Nursing. I will always return to Goodwin University because I know the education I receive will have a lasting positive effect on my nursing career."

Meet the final 2024 Goodwin Alumni Awardee!

Isamar Rodriguez's commitment to serving others has been evident through her leadership and has also directly impacted the lives of many individuals on campus, especially the students and their families that she serves. Under her guidance, the Ann B. Clark Co-op has not only provided essential resources but has also fostered a sense of community and support for those in need. Isamar's passion for service extends beyond her role in managing the Co-op. She has consistently gone above and beyond to advocate for and support her peers, demonstrating a deep commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive campus environment. Currently, she is serving on the Connecticut Foodshare Network Advisory Council (2023, 2024) and the Town of East Hartford YMCA Leadership Board (2023,2024). She is currently featured in a video collection for Choice Visual Library (FANO project) through the Institute of Hunger. Her personal story is also the subject of a video narrative project which was developed in collaboration with Connecticut Foodshare, Department of Public Health and the firm Cronin. This video is currently playing in social service offices across the state.
