Our deepest appreciation to the Knights of Columbus for choosing the Wingate by Wyndham Elkins and the 1863 Appalachian Bistro for their weekend conference!

The 1863 is hiring for an experienced, polished server for a Wednesday - Saturday evening shift (hours are 3 pm - 9 pm).

To avoid wasting time, candidate MUST:

➡️ be able to multi-task
➡️be fast AND efficient
➡️have a friendly and engaging demeanor with customers
➡️know your way around BEHIND the bar
➡️be able to pronounce the wine list
➡️takes initiative on knowing details of menu and specials
➡️takes pride in a spotlessly clean environment
➡️ has the maturity to not throw the kitchen or ownership under the bus for pity tips
➡️knows how to say “I don’t know, let me get that answer for you” instead of “I don’t know, I’m new”
➡️ is interested in the ongoing success of the 1863 team
➡️be able to consistently work the schedule assigned
➡️ event and catering experience a huge plus
➡️ be drama free, both at work and on social media as it relates to work, during and after employment (although our hope is that employment is happy and long-term) - I promise you, your drama regarding 1863 business and my response to it will leave everyone looking bad to someone, so let’s pre-emptively avoid it.
➡️ IS HONEST - Trust me, we’ve learned all the tricks of server theft, and if that’s the goal in employment with us please know that we will wait until you’ve stolen enough to warrant a felony and will press charges. Been there, done that. Don’t be a thief.

We are looking for an invested, long-term member of our team, NOT someone who needs a job for a few months.

Folks, it’s rough out there....

Quick reminder that the restaurant is closed through January 1st and will be open again Saturday January 2nd. Our dining room will remain closed through January or until Covid in our area is “under control” again. However, we will be open Friday and Saturday nights for take out and our Saturday Night Supper Club.

What’s our Saturday Night Supper Club? It’s an All-In-One Fixed Price Themed Meal that includes appetizer, entree and sides, and dessert, plus an option to upcharge a bottle of wine!

Our Supper Club Menu will be posted on Mondays and you can order in advance throughout the week, so keep us in mind for your special Saturday dinner plans!

Every four orders of Supper Club gets a special thank you from me and Mike. It could be a charcuterie board for 2, one of V’s edible arrangements, a pie...who knows! It’s our way of saying “thank you” for letting us cook for you!

To the humblest of souls, who always smiled on the outside. When he walked through our doors, it was in the spirit of sharing. He never hesitated to share knowledge, and he never stopped learning. We were lucky to have had this guy on our team for the time that we did, and count ourselves fortunate to have known him. Our hearts go out to his family for their loss.

Happy St. Patty’s Day! We’ve got your traditional meal of corned beef and cabbage and green beer!! It’s in the slow cooker with our home made spice pack, and will be ready by 4:00 pm.
