About a month and six years ago today, I texted our friend and wedding photographer and asked him what he thought about doing a surprise first look and personal vow reading up in Red Rocks a couple days before our wedding. After assuring me that it was a very good idea, I tricked Connor into thinking that we were just going to take some photos. After we got to *the spot* for photos I ran down the trail in 11 degrees and snow, changed into my wedding, and ran back up the trail to surprise Connor. It was magical and perfect. (And did I mention 11 degrees?!) It will forever be my favorite moment of that season.
What have we learned six years later? Enjoy the easy moments because it won’t always be easy. Reflect after the good and harder times. Do the work. It is so worth it to dig deep into yourself to help your marriage flourish. Love deeply and forgive quickly. And to my love: I will never get tired of getting to call you my husband. It feels like a gift to share life with you.

It doesn’t get any better than Weslie + Brad. The love, the authenticity, the kindness to each other and their guests… the day was truly about what really matters and nothing about what doesn’t. Weslie said that she didn’t want a bunch of staged moments. At one point in the day as I was giving some direction for her first look with her dad, she reminded me of her wishes to not have a bunch of planned moments for photos. Then at the end of the night she came to me and said, “we don’t want to do a last dance like we requested. We’re with our people having fun and I don’t want it to stop.” No problem sister, you’re in charge. We are committed to bringing your deep, meaningful purpose of your event through every step of the way. Even if that means a last minute change of course🤍

As the year winds down, we can’t help but reflect on the wonderful humans we’ve gotten to connect with since we started our journey. Sweet and sappy post you’ll want to read all of:
I had a bit of a *first* last week during a Creating Aura workshop with one of my couples. A little background- we offer this workshop to help our clients define the purpose of their gathering and empower them to use it to make decisions as we plan. I work to rewire them to think of the “why” instead of the “what” (read: logistics) with planning. I also use it to get to know my clients deeper. It dives deep into who they are as people, and it asks for a bit of vulnerability. Well, back to what I was saying, I teared up for the first time. I asked, “What made you decide to get married?” And the groom had a shockingly sweet and pure reason. He said, “Someone once told me you should only marry someone if you’d be happy with your kids turning out exactly like them. And well, I realized I would be really happy with that.” 😭😭😭😭 maybe it's my postpartum hormones, but I just wasn't ready for that. It was simple and sweet. Why did you decide to marry your person?

I saw myself in some BTS photos and was instantly thinking some pretty negative thoughts about my body… and then .balloons sent me these photos and well, they made me feel pretty magical and badass if I’m being honest. I was helping with a flat lay AND feeding my beautiful boy. Women’s bodies are INCREDIBLE and beautiful. Planning a styled shoot less than two months postpartum was a bit insane, but I know it will all be worth it ✨thank you Danielle for celebrating this season with me 🤍

I stare at beautiful photography galleries sent to me for hours… just reveling in the beauty and craft of photography that I’ve grown to appreciate so deeply over the past few years.
