A look back to when Fischer Hall was donated to the Frankenmuth Historical Association and moved on October 27, 1986. Artifact of the Week: Bowling is as timeless as any sport, dating back at least 5,000 years in one form or another. When Fischer Hall became part of the Historical Association's building, this bowling ball and pin were found under the stage. These may date back as early as the 1900, as bowling balls made of hardwood remained popular until the early 1900s. This wooden bowling ball only sports 2 holes, and is 7.5" in diameter. The wooden pin is roughly the size of a contemporary pin, and is referred to as a "duckpin" in a comparison of a duck's head to the top of the pin.

Around the turn of the 20th century, companies such as Evertrue and Brunswick released rubber bowling balls. Most first appeared in one color: black; but soon, new more "fashionable" colors were released. Rubber bowling balls remained popular until the mid-1900s, after which materials such as plastic, urethane, and resin remain popular materials today.

Recently, the FHA received a generous donation from the Frankenmuth Jaycees, to remodel our kitchen in Fischer Hall. Well, here are some before and after photos! A huge THANK YOU to not only the Jaycees, but also to Ron Greenia, Wayne Greenia, and Barb & Ben Robertson, for the hours they put in (from selecting cabinets, demo, install, painting, cleaning, and everything in between!) to make this happen!!
