Don’t miss The Eno After Party on May 4 in The Alex Theatre courtyard following the premiere screening of Gary Hustwit’s groundbreaking documentary ‘Eno’! ✨

Every screening of ‘Eno’ is a unique live experience for the viewer. The documentary utilizes a generative software system to combine new interviews with never-before-seen archival footage of Brian Eno in a different way each time.

Director Gary Hustwit will be there answering questions after the screening.

The after party starts at 10PM & will feature music from DJ Friki Fran & DJ Ty!

Just a few more weeks until the Marshall Crenshaw 40 Years in Showbiz Tour at The Alex Theatre in Glendale, CA on 2/10 8PM with special guest Jill Sobule!

Marshall Crenshaw burst onto the scene in 1982 with the hit songs “Someday, Someway” & “Cynical Girl” off of his debut album!

He played the role of Buddy Holly in the 1987 movie ‘La Bamba’ & recorded a cover of “Crying, Waiting, Hoping” for the movie’s soundtrack, which reached #1 on the Billboard charts & was certified double platinum!

Marshall has toured consistently for the past four decades with his own band & at times, as the lead singer of The Smithereens !

Jill Sobule is a folk singer-songwriter known for her 1995 hits “I Kissed a Girl” & “Supermodel”, which appeared on the ‘Clueless’ soundtrack.

She is also known for her clever lyrics, storytelling, & catchy tunes!

THIS SATURDAY 🎶 Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra Conductor Laureate Jeffrey Kahane returns to conduct the world premiere of Nina C. Young’s Violin Concerto: Traces,  performed by violinist Jennifer Koh. Kahane will also conduct C.P.E. Bach’s Sinfonia in D major and Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3 in A minor, “Scottish.” This program is part of the California Festival. 

Before the show at 7PM, get an inside look at LACO’s process of commissioning and developing new work. Conductor Laureate Jeffrey Kahane will join Jennifer Koh and Nina C. Young for a lively pre-concert discussion on the composer’s process and development of a new work in relation to the musicians and soloist.

Born and raised in Texas, two-time Grammy-winner arrived in Nashville in the early 1970s, coming to prominence first as a writer before establishing himself as a critically acclaimed solo artist. With 15 number one hits under his belt and tracks recorded by everyone from Emmylou Harris and Johnny Cash to Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson, it would be difficult to overstate Crowell’s impact on roots music over the past five decades. JUST ANNOUNCED 🎭 Founded by producer/drummer, Gabriel Rowland and singer/songwriter, Victor Benavides in Pasadena, CA in 2017, wanted to create music that recalled their childhood days as young chicanos. “Souldies” is how they describe their contemporary take on the deep soul tracks they modeled their sound after. They’ll be bring their souldies sound to The Alex on December 16.

ON SALE NOW 🎼 Rufus Wainwright joins The Pacific Jazz Orchestra at the Theatre at Ace Hotel on on March 2nd, 2024 for an evening of music by the composer Kurt Weill, presented by our friends at Evensong Collective.

Rufus Wainwright's fascination with Kurt Weill's music goes back for decades. In his early twenties he wore out the vinyl grooves of Teresa Stratas' famous Weill album. His musical influence can be heard in his own songs. Never has he dedicated an entire evening to singing the German musician's songs. With the Cafe Carlyle in May of 2023 he found the perfect venue to try out an all Kurt Weill program exploring some of the known but definitely straying more into the unknown Weill. The audiences in New York for the 5 concert run were ecstatic. With the Pacific Jazz Orchestra under the baton of Chris Walden he is now expanding the orchestral pallet for his approach to Kurt Weill. Wainwright will interject some of his own compositions, old and utterly new ones that have been influenced by the German composer who had a long career in the US after migrating here from N**i Germany.

Suzanne Ciani is a five-time Grammy award-nominated composer, electronic music pioneer, and neo-classical recording artist who has released over 20 solo albums including "Seven Waves," and "The Velocity of Love," along with a landmark quad LP “LIVE Quadraphonic,” which restarted her Buchla modular performances. Her work has been featured in films, games, and countless commercials as well.
