I'm kind of obsessed with this session! You'd never guess it was humid with mosquitos in the early morning - the love between this couple and their sweet little family is so amazing. We have a birthday boy! Bo, the foster fail rescue pup, turned 10 last week! His mom and dad know he's the bestest, most handsome boy and booked him his very own photo shoot. He was pretty much a supermodel, giving me all different poses and even occasional attitude. I'm so excited to share a sneak peek of: Bo, a very handsome Misfit Mutt 💙

Did you know that I do pet sessions and donate a portion of the proceeds to a local rescue or shelter? I was thrilled to meet these three gorgeous gals, especially to celebrate one of them being in her "Golden Girls" era (but you'd never know it looking at her!). There were kisses and snuggles and doggy wrestling, and I loved every second of meeting: Luna, Fiona, & Denali - who graciously allowed me to donate to Misfit Mutts Dog Rescue 🧡🐾

I never know what is going to happen when I see snow in the forecast the night before a wedding - but I think the sprinkle of white makes for a very beautiful and traditional Wisconsin backdrop! This beautiful, moving world of photography is more to me than just a "job". I get to show you beauty, love, happiness, and life through the eyes of an observer. I also get to show you sadness, grief, madness, and a mess of other things that are maybe not always as visually appealing, but matter just as much.

And sometimes, I get messages like this that crack my heart wide open and make me love this work so much, and am overwhelmed with gratitude for this gift:

"Hey Jess, you were our wedding photographer a few years ago, you may not remember us right away. My wife's step father passed away recently and we used a photo from our wedding as his head shot. I wanted to thank you again for being our photographer. It was one of the last nice photos we had of him and made a great headshot. The way you captured his joy is amazing and portrays him very well. Your work is wonderful and it's impact extend beyond the wedding day."

I know that photography pricing can be overwhelming! There is a lot built into making your session or wedding day as perfect and smooth as possible: including in-person meetings, unlimited calls or emails to go over details and questions, and editing. Scheduling sneak peeks, uploading and sending digital galleries or physical products, and even cleaning cameras/lenses and charging batteries are all time investments we need to do to deliver that final product. 📸

As 2023 is coming to a close, I want to send holiday thanks and well-wishes to my clients this year, and upcoming clients next year! It was another great season with beautiful families, high school seniors, and couples.

The greatest gift you can give a small business owner is a referral! If you know any couples recently engaged or getting engaged, I'd love to chat with them! If you have friends with high school seniors or families that need updated photos, it's never too soon to start planning.
