It was 27 years ago today that Backfin Blue brought Maryland Crab Cakes to Gulfport. We had $3500 dollars in the bank and the support of our beloved Dawn and the Gulfport community along with a determination to succeed. The Eminem song "Lose Yourself" quickly became our motto with the quote "Success is the only option, failure is not".

Thank you everyone for your enthusiastic welcome to Geckofest!
We have had multiple queries about volume orders of Crab Cakes which we are, unfortunately, not able to do during Geckofest in order to try to have enough product to make it through the long day.
We are looking at ways to make Crab Cakes available in the future especially around the Holidays.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to seeing everyone!

Ahhh, the siting has been explained! No it wasn't a UFO or, even more elusive, a cold front in August but the Gulfport Gecko heralding the onset of Gecko Season in Gulfport!
To help celebrate the event and the launch of our new Catering Biz, Backfin Blue Cafe will be participating in Geckofest serving our Maryland Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and Corn + Crab Chowder.

A piece of Bedrox history lives on at Backfin Blue Cafe. On the right of the photo there sits a walk in cooler under the ramp. It was moved to Backfin in 1997 and sits there to this day (with updated refrigeration components, of course) ready for it's next adventure!

Hello from Backfin Blue Cafe!

We are experiencing a worldwide Crab 🦀 shortage this summer.
Our one supplier that can get it has us on an allocation of 3 cases per week.
Since we average a case a day this time of year we've scaled back our hours to three days a week;
Open Thursday-Saturday @ 5pm.
We are seating outside only on our covered deck so we do recommend calling ahead for reservations but we take Walk Ins when able

This weekend marks 38 years of cooking 🍳 for me (24 @ Backfin Blue Cafe). Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the folks that support us and the customers who helped me last night 🌙 while I was deep in the weeds, Mike from Beach Bizarre, Angela and her birthday party and other folks from the neighborhood. It reminded me of when we first opened and we would grab one of our "regulars" and deputize them to host, bus or whatever! Today I have my daughter ❤ to help out so we're doing a few tables outside until 7pm. The menu is online on our website.
