On this morning's field trip at Francis Beach in Half Moon Bay, 70 excited third graders (and some very very excited Half Moon Bay State Beach educators) saw three gray whales, one of whom was a calf, feeding and playing in the surf. Gray whales are often seen swimming close to shore as they head north in their spring migration, as it is safer for their brand new calves. What an exciting experience for this Kids 2 Parks group! Thank you Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks for making our Kids 2 Parks field trips possible! By providing free bus transportation, the Kids 2 Parks program grants Title 1 schools the opportunity to enjoy field trips they otherwise wouldn't be able to attend. We love Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks!
