What a wonderful night! A few weekends ago, Soda Rock held our annual Summer Dining Pairing featuring 8 of our world class vinos and a 6-course meal by Premier Chef Liz Ozanich.

Many new friendships were formed and laughs were had! We thank everyone who joined us and can’t wait to do it again!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled scrolling to bring you our 2018 Zinfandels!

The Marshall has received multiple gold medals, 96 points, and a best in class from both the SF Chronicle and Sunset International Wine competitions! It’s also blended with Carignan (8%) and Petite Sirah (9%) which both add a deep, inky color and juicy freshness!

The Wentworth is also a gold medal winner and is blended with Primitivo (22%). It’s flavors and aromas are distinctive, with notes of raspberry licorice, tea leaf, and sandalwood!

Don’t let the name Wedding Cake fool you! It is not a sweet wine! It is however our most light bodied and fruit forward Zin, more akin to a Pinot or Gamay Noir. The Wedding Cake is sourced from it’s namesake vineyard, planted with 80+ year old Zinfandel vines!

The 2018 Alexander Valley is made to showcase what this AVA is all about when it comes to Zin! It has a wonderful balance of fruit, spice, and structure, making it a well rounded and polished wine.

Let’s talk about The Generals!

These Cabernet Sauvignons are named in honor our former winery building, which was originally built in the 1860’s as a general store, trading post, and post office!

The General is a robust Cabernet Sauvignon blended with a little Merlot (5%), and has aromas and flavors of wild blackberry, cardamom, and anise.

The 5 star General is smooth and distinguished, having been aged for 20 months in new French oak. This Cabernet has notes of cassis, luxardo cherry, and sassafras!

Who/What is Lord Snort?!

Lord Snort is a giant metal sculpture of a wild boar on display here at Soda Rock Winery. Lord Snort weighs 11 tons and was originally built for Burning Man in 2016! Now he greets visitors to Soda Rock and is the namesake of two of our wines!

Our 2020 Lord Snort Blanc is an esoteric blend of French Colombard (37%) and Sauvignon Blanc (63%) made from grapes grown in Mendocino county. It is dry, crisp, and fragrant with flavors and aromas of tropical fruits, ocean breezes, and razor sharp acidity!

The 2018 Lord Snort Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (40%) that was fermented using native yeast and was barrel aged for 32 months! This wine is hearty, but smooth and mellow at the same time! Perfect to have with slow roasted meat and veggies (Lord Snort would be disappointed if you didn’t have his namesake with BBQ pork)!

Hello from our Warm Springs Vineyard!

This is Warm Springs Ranch! It is one of our estate vineyards planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Franc, and Merlot at 1,550’ elevation in a remote area west of Lake Sonoma. Warm Springs Ranch is planted above the fog line and faces southwest. Vineyards planted in this direction and elevation receive full sunlight during the day.

Being only 10 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, coastal winds blow through this vineyard, keeping temperatures cool and drafty. The moderate temperatures, strong winds, and abundant sunshine present an optimal growing environment for fruit of the highest quality. Grapes grown here yield bold and powerful wines!
