This is my father, Bruce Meyers Sr, and I squinting into the sun outside his store "Meyers Grocery" in Elkhart Indiana. I'm guessing about 1956. My mother, Mary Meyers, took the photo. Happy Fathers Day to all of you dads and to your fathers who have moved on to the Great Beyond.
Such a wonderful life thanks in no small part to our fathers.

I've worked with cards my entire life and this completely surprised me.

From the Mind-Blown department of the Universe…

In a deck of 52 playing cards, the total number of possible shuffles is Astronomical:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
** If a trillion people each shuffled a deck of cards a trillion times per second…
** And they each did this for a trillion years…
** And it occurred in a trillion civilizations across our universe….
** And that played out in a trillion universes across the multiverse…

On your next shuffle, only then is there a nearly even chance your deck will match any previously shuffled deck.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Which means any time you fully shuffle a deck of cards, it’s not likely to match any deck that has ever been shuffled before.

The NW Magic Ring of Smoke thanks JR Russell for his years of dedication and tireless work while taking over from Bruce Meyers as leader. Many fine magicians found their beginnings here and they are the Ring of Smoke's legacy. It is now all ended.
I'll leave the page up for a short while in case anyone would care to contact us or leave a message. Thanks again to everyone for all of the great magic and good times.

Something extraordinary happened today. Jennifer and I were at Costco drinking one of those delicious mango smoothies. The breeze knocked over an empty cup at a table next to ours where a quite beautiful woman was lunching with her equally beautiful 3 young children. Jennifer and I both jumped up to stop the cup from rolling off the table but the mother grabbed it in time. We all laughed and we said something to the family and the mother answered “we are from Ukraine”. We said “welcome” and asked her if they were safe now. She spoke into her phone which translated her words for us. They were from a village which was no more because of Russian bombing. They were staying with family on the island and were safe for now. She was bravely smiling and acting happy which I’m sure was for the well being of her young children. The children were smiling and friendly as well. So, it was working. I then grabbed this package of Sweet And Low opened it up and poured it into Jennifer’s hand. I then rolled the white powder with my index finger which slowly changed into a small toy rabbit 🐇 identical to the one in the photo. They expressed astonishment. I handed the bunny to one of the daughters. I reached behind the ear of her young son and pulled out another rabbit. The 3rd rabbit was from behind Jennifer’s ear. While we walked away I couldn’t help but choke up. This poor family. The war had come to Hawaii. We must all do what we can.

Webster's definition of "arcane"
arcane: adjective
ar·​cane är-ˈkān
Definition of arcane: Known or knowable only to a few people, secret, mysterious, obscure.

My opinion is it should be used to refer to magic as much as anything else. The word "magician" would be synonymous with "arcanist" which is a term historically used for anything but: "A person having knowledge of a secret process of manufacture (as of the manufacture of porcelain)"

I have always been an Arcanist.

Houdini, the one and only, was involved in debunking clairvoyant, spiritual and psychic fraud as well as conspiracy theories. About 100 years ago he made a large portion of his public shows about these exposures including demonstrating the methods these frauds were using to rip off the faithful.
Séances became parlor room spook shows as the spiritualist or clairvoyant would promise contacting your deceased loved ones for a fee and display apparitions among other things.
Here Houdini explains one process of manufacturing luminous ghostly hands which would show up during the seances. Made of wax.
Many magicians now carry on such debunking as the fraud is just as prevalent today as it ever has been.
