We are a small flower farm in rural Hoopeston offering unique, fresh bouquets!

It was nice to get the dahlias divided and properly stored before Steve and I left for the Smoky Mountains this past week. The fall colors were gorgeous and the weather was perfect! Bonus: still a few lisianthus to harvest and enjoy when we arrived home!

The somewhat intimidating and annoying, yet addictive, task of dividing dahlia tubers has begun! To produce a plant next year, a tuber must have a sound body, intact neck and an eye for growth. This variety produced a lot of tubers! Hopefully, most will store well through the winter!

I think this will be the last of my bouquets for 2024. It’s been truly amazing to still get flowers from the lisianthus in the hoop house. If you would like one of these bouquets, you can add a comment on its photo. These are fairly large bouquets priced at $20. Thank you all for your wonderful support this season!

Today was perfect weather to work on dahlias! Photo #1: wait until a frost occurs or a minimum of 120 growing days #2 trim plants to ground #3 meanwhile Steve pulled water lines and fabric in other areas #4 it was helpful to loosen all around the plant this year (tubers were breaking otherwise) #5 move to mesh table #6 thoroughly wash all soil away. In a few days, I will begin dividing the tubers and preparing them for winter storage.

Frost was in the forecast last night, so it was time to harvest the last of the eucalyptus, prune it short, and cover it with a layer of frost cloth. We will add a layer of plastic sheeting when it gets really cold. I’m hoping some will survive the winter again!

I’m grateful to be participating in Hoopeston’s Autumn Fest this Saturday! I’ll have some lisianthus bouquets, dried flowers and wreaths, and will also have 2025 Flower Subscriptions available to purchase for yourself or holiday gifting! Come out and see all the good things going on in my town! ❤️

These lisianthus don’t look anything like fall but, oh my, the beauty of the second flush is an extra special blessing knowing that flower season is over. (Besides, spring is my favorite time of the year anyway 😍)

How can it be September? I am amazed how fast the garden transitions from tiny seedlings in May to mature plants that are completing their life cycle at the end of August (or sooner). For now, I’ll enjoy a few last bouquets!

New Product! We have everlasting bouquet wraps that you can easily dry and enjoy for years. Arrange in a vase, add to a wreath, etc. for some winter cheer! ❤️😊💐

This week’s subscriptions feature lots of dahlias! It’s taken me 3 years to achieve a bountiful harvest. I almost gave up and I wasn’t sure it was really worth the effort that these flowers require. I hope my subscribers will be as excited as I am! 😊❤️💐

It was a full day of prep on Friday getting ready for Shop The Park! It’s going to be a beautiful day to browse all the vendors in the park and shop the fun stores in Cissna Park on Saturday! 🙂❤️💐

The last variety of my lisianthus are blooming fresh for a debut at Shop The Park in Cissna Park on Saturday from 9am-1pm. I planted 14 varieties this year which was around 1,000 plants. This one may be my favorite . . . Wait, I think I say that with each variety 😂

One of those annoying tasks . . . Putting bags over each dahlia bloom because bugs love to chew them. Especially the white ones!

Come out to the farm on Thursday from 7 am-3 pm or Pink Poodle from 4 pm -6 pm and grab some lisianthus! I will be offering solid color bunches for $10 each. Find them under the tent near the garage. If it gets too hot, I will move them inside, so just ring the doorbell!

I have buckets and buckets of these beauties . . . But I will keep you posted if we run out!

What do we do when there aren’t any flowers to harvest, you ask? There is usually something to do. I still need to clean up a huge mess from making wreaths in my grow room, but I took the day to do some cyber Monday shopping yesterday instead! 🎄🎁🛍️
