To Dream the Impossible Dream
My name is Mary Alderman. I have been married to the same man for over 36 years. I have one daughter, Jessica, and three wonderful grandchildren, Liam, the oldest is 5 and twins, Ariya and Killian, who will be 1 year in March. I have worked for the State of Maine for almost 43 years and plan to retire the end of August 2020.
It took me many years to decide what I wanted to do when I grew up. I thought of being a master herbalist as I loved anything natural and holistic. Unfortunately, I had issues with my sight and it was too much to continue these classes. I started taking classes for Reiki in 2010 and became a Reiki Master in 2019. I have organized the Holistic Mystic Fair since 2006 and I started working with DoTerra Essential Oils in 2018. I teach classes using essential oils and event planning through Adult Ed in Whitefield, Marranacook, Augusta and Gardiner.
Several years ago, I read a book series by one of my favorite authors, Nora Roberts about four girls who start a wedding business. I thought, wow, I would love to do this, however, I worked full time with a young daughter and couldn’t responsibly quite my job to pursue a dream. When I started planning my retirement, I started thinking of ways to increase my income and keep me active once I retired. My husband has health issues, so I wanted to be able to stay close if needed. I decided to investigate classes to assist me in my new venture. I have completed classes in Wedding Consultant and Event Planning, Florist and Floral Design, Cooking and Catering, Social Media and Starting your own Small Business.
September 1, 2020 I will open Alderman’s Enchanted Events.
